1576 ᴡᴏʀᴅs.Kyojuro felt trapped.
Dark trees loomed over him like a transfixed prison - shallow, watery moonlight seeping through the leathery leaves of the forest canopy. Around his feet thick roots exerted from the ground, a threatening reminder of how he was quite far from his element.
It was as if he were a butterfly in a glass jar, fluttering around and looking for an escape out of instinct.
"Kyojuro talk to me! Stop ignoring what happened!" Akaza had started to get more frustrated with the pillar's silence. Rengoku wouldn't admit it, but the way Akaza lost his temper so easily made him rather frightened really.
"I-it's merely any of your concern, please don't worry yourself!.. I'm quite happy with how Senjuro react-" the man tried to keep his shaky smile, however his futile attempt to change the subject was quickly eradicated.
A shallow growl came from the demon's throat, almost animalistic. It sounded like a threat, stopping Kyojuro in his tracks.
Rengoku couldn't see much due to it being dark, so he relied on his other seances instead. However Akaza could see perfectly fine, watching the pillar for his next moves. It was more like the test of wills, seeing who would crack first under the pressure.
"Am i really that unlovable Kyojuro?"
The statement coming from the demon felt like a direct jab to the stomach. As if those very words were a knife that was destined to carve deep into Kyojuro's soft skin, rip him apart from the inside and gut him.
The pillar felt his throat close up, he didn't know Akaza was listening as he confessed everything to Tomioka the night before.
Rengoku looked up at the tree canopy, Akaza stood behind him reluctantly waiting for an answer. "i need to get back to the butterfly mansion.." he forced out of parched lips, voice but a mere whisper - the sound of the phantom wind and nightly wildlife almost completely drowning out his voice.
it was strange to hear him like this really, Kyojro was such an honest and loud person. for him to conceal his true emotions and shut off his voice really wasn't like him at all. That just goes to prove how much of a mental barrier Kyojuro was trying to pass right now.
Akaza narrowed his eyes, thick pink lashes batting away the feeling of sadness to be replaced with a harrowing consumption of anger. Instantly the pillar could sense the change of atmosphere, a suppressed shiver returning to his spine. Kyojuro's hands craved for the feel of his fingers wrapped comfortingly around the hilt of his Kantana; however he had unfortunately left it with Tomioka.
he felt scared, but then again why should he?
Akaza and him had established a good enough respect for a good amount of trust, and understanding to be built up. If that was the case why did Kyojuro feel so... unnerved?
Before he could even react, Rengoku felt an immense amount of force surge through his upper body as Akaza grabbed the back of his collar; roughly making the man slam his back against a nearby tree - upstanding roots and underbrush making Kyojuro snag his foot on the way down as he stumbled to the floor.
Kyojuro winced at the sudden collision, a flare of white hot pain shooting from his how freshly bruised wound in his stomach.
The demon towered above him, eyes flared in annoyance as his fangs poked from his lips. from then Kyojuro could definitely understand how a cornered rabbit felt staring up at the jaw's of a hungry fox.
