When Worlds Collide

Chapter 4

It's Sunday morning and Maya is sitting at the coffee shop waiting for Carina to arrive. She can't help but feel nervous when she gets to see Carina, nobody has had that effect on her, ever. Just when Maya gets lost in her thoughts, she gets a call. Charlotte.

Charlotte: Hey Maya, I haven't heard from you since Friday, how are you doing?

Maya: Hey Charlotte, just been busy showing houses is all.

Charlotte: Well I was thinking, maybe you could come over tonight? We could have some fun... Charlotte spoke in a seductive voice.

Maya: Charlotte, I don't know how to tell you this but I need too. Whatever this is, it's over. It was just sex to me, and I feel like you have started to develop feelings which I don't want. I'm sorry, but I'm ending whatever this was.

Charlotte: Oh, um is it something I did? Why can't we still have sex?

Maya: Because I know deep down you have feelings for me, and I don't have those same feelings for you. I'm not going to use you and take advantage of that. I'm sorry, but this is over.

Just as Maya finished her sentence Carina walked into the coffee shop, going up to the counter to order her drink. They locked eyes and Maya started to hear Charlotte speak but wasn't paying attention to what she was saying.

Maya: Sorry Charlotte but I have business to attend to. Goodbye Charlotte.

Maya hung up and got up from the table she was sitting at and walked up to Carina while she was ordering her coffee.

"Here let me get that for you." Maya said as she gave the barista her credit card.

"Maya, you don't have to keep paying for my drinks." Carina said as she chuckled.

"Hey it's my pleasure." Maya said as she looked at Carina with the most genuine smile.

Once Carina got her coffee they went to go sit down where Maya was before.

"Another client?" Carina asked.

"Huh?" Maya responded.

"You were on the phone with someone, it seemed serious." Carina explained as she took a sip from her coffee.

"Oh, yeah, it was Charlotte." Maya said.

"Oh." Carina responded.

"I ended things with her, just now. She liked me and I didn't like her back. It's over." Maya explained.

All Carina did was nod her head, feeling a bit awkward that she asked. Though, Carina couldn't help but feel happy, even though they are just friends.

"So, have you made your decision on what house you want to make an offer on?" Maya asked.

"Actually yes. The first house just felt like home, so that's the one I'm going for." Carina explained.

"Good choice. It was absolutely beautiful and I think it's perfect for you!" Maya cheered. "So the next step is to make an offer, which I will send over the offer to the owners and their agent. If they accept the offer, which I am sure they will, then I will make up the contract that has all the details regarding the house and offer, then you and the owners will both sign it, and then it's yours!" Maya explained.

"Wow, this is all happening so fast! You are really good at your job, Maya." Carina said in a soothing voice. Maya looked down at her coffee as she got shy and blush formed on her cheeks.

"But....what if they don't accept the offer?" Carina questioned.

"IF they don't accept it, it's probably because they had a better offer from someone else. If that's the case, then we can make a counter offer. That means that we can make another offer with more money. If you are not willing to offer more money, then we keep looking or make offers on those other houses we looked at already." Maya explained.
