Alexander was scared to go home for the holidays last year and was just glad to be back at Hogwarts, everything had been a bit frightening; with the current state of the world being how it is and all that. Although his parents often didn't care much for their children, especially him, they had a sharp conversation -- which felt more like a stern talking to.

No matter how much he tried to push the thoughts away, June was creeping closer than he had wanted it too. It was like it was about to ambush him; an even worse thought is that he would be going home as a graduate. He would have to leave all his childish interests behind and work with his father, as an intern of course; he would have to stop listening to Bowie, stop hanging out with the Gryffindor graduates, he would have to stop seeing Marlene, and he would have to stop going to Hogwarts (the worst condition of all).

Life was a drowning cesspool of pride and ageing, he couldn't escape; at least he wouldn't be trapped alone. For he would always have Y/N, or so he thought. Friends may just be rope that can be severed but family is like an element, something that cannot be broken down or ruined. Yet, it was naive to think like that, in his family and their purity, family meant nothing.

"Can your mother and I bend your ear for a tick, son?" Mr L/N asked from his position on the couch, his wife adjacent to him; Alexander was almost out the door but of course they had to get to him first. The boy looked around, hoping to throw it on his sister, but saw not her or any maid, so, with a deep sigh, he sat down on the couch in front of the two adults.

"Of course, father." Alexander nodded, he lifted his left leg to rest on the right one. "So, what can I do for the both of you?" He inquired, leaning back onto the couch a little more, trying to get comfortable in what felt like a prison. The two adults shared a look, his mother attempting to get her husband to begin the conversation, yet he didn't. So she began.

"We have meetings in which we feel you would benefit from attending." She plainly stated, rubbing her red lips together after taking a sip of her tea. "You'll be attending with us, tomorrow at 10:00PM, the Malfoy manner; Lucius should be there with Narcissa."

"What does this... meeting entail?" Alexander asked, inquisitively narrowing his eyes in her direction with curious wonder. "I can guess but, I would hope to be given the right answer." He snakily commented, a slight bite to his tone.

"You'll see." Mr L/N nodded. "You are dismissed."

"Alex, have you seen my wand?" Marlene asked, fidgeting with her fingers as she questioned him. His heart felt full whenever she called him by that nickname, it was like she was made to say it, he wanted only her to say his name.

"Have you lost it, again?" Alexander chuckled.

"Misplaced is a better word, lost just feels so clumsy." She rolled her eyes, shaking her head, a smile played at her lips. "Anyway, have you seen it?"

"Not at all."He shrugged, that lifeless feeling seemed to dissipate when she was next to him, it was like he could do anything. Yet, he just had to sit and wait until she reciprocated exactly to what he was doing.

"Oh well." She sighed as she dropped next to him. "What were you doing just sitting here all alone?"

"Just thinking, Marlene." He answered.

"About what in particular?"

"Your lost wand."

"Shut up, no you weren't." She giggled lightly.

"No truly, I was, I'm just a mind reader." He joked once more.

"What were you really thinking about?" Marlene pressed once more.

"My parents." He answered, a slight frown sewing itself into his features. "They're horrid, as we know quite well."

"What did they do this time?" Marlene asked while turning to face him completely.

"Promise you won't tell anyone?" Alexander raised an eyebrow slightly.

"Pinky promise." She smiled lightly, they interlocked their pinkies at her behest; her hands were so warm, even during the harsh nature of winters. "Now, what's been going on?"

"I think they want me to get the... y'know, the mark." He shuddered. "They just haven't directly told me yet, they've taken me to a couple of their meetings and everything is so awful, He's... He's horrid."

"Who?" Marlene asked, her hand gripped onto one of his.

"You know who I'm talking about... Voldemort." Alexander gasped at the word coming from his lips. "I'm scared, for once in my life, I'm scared to-to exist." He admitted, he had never been one to share such emotion.

"My darling." Marlene muttered, grabbed his head with one of her soft hands and shoving him into a hug. "You don't have to do anything you don't wish to do." She quietly whispered into his ear. "Besides, I'm here for you, so is Y/N, and so are all your friends who love you dearly."

Alexander was indeed loved, yet love was not the most powerful thing in the world. Love did not conqueror all, and whoever believes so is a fool.

"Evan Rosier was there." Alexander blurted out in a hushed pitch. "I think Rosier has the... has the you know what."

"Oh shit." Her eyes widened and her breath hitched. "But he's just a child, not even in his final year, he's younger than everyone else in their 6th year." She rambled on. "How could anyone do that to a boy of only 15, he's not even 16 yet!"
