I managed to come to level four of the research floor, finding Thor and Hulk going after each other, but of course Hulk was winning. He threw Thor to the side, and was ready to slam his fists down into him. I shot into the room and brought my arms together, just in time for him to slam his fists into my forearm, but I kept my strength up.
"Stop Bruce. I do not want to hurt you," his eyes just wandered to me, a deep growl came from the back of his throat. He tries to push down more, and more, but I used my own strength to push him back. He stumbles backwards, his expression frowning and confused at this moment in time. He was ready to swing his fists once again, but I had to stop this destruction. Banner tries to throw the punch, however, his hand jerks forward ever so slightly, as if something had held his wrist. He tries again, but it doesn't work. Green energy wrapped around his wrist, it swirls and complied with my will. "Enough," my voice was stern, as I waved my index and middle finger down, and Bruce followed suit, he came to his knees, unwillingly, he struggled against the unknown force that tied him down. "Let me help you," my voice turned soft, as I approached Bruce, extending out my hands to his head, but he was wiggling and trying to force his way out.
Suddenly, my eyes focused on the background, seeing an aircraft in the air, ready to fire. My eyes widened as it began to shoot at the Hulk. Bullets pierced the window and hit the back of Banner, I lost my focus and the spell dispersed. Two rough hands wrapped around my waist, and dragged me to the side, but it was fast and wasn't throughout as we hit the ground with the rubble and glass around us. The hands of course belonged to Thor, he grabbed me close to his chest, protecting me from the oncoming bullets, and shards of glass that spread across the room. A unsettling roar pierced my ears, and loud footsteps erupted around, before Bruce leapt from the window towards the aircraft.
As the chaos around us died, Thor hands loosened their grip around my waist, as I removed my head from the crook of his neck. Our eyes met, the blue shined in the electric current that sparked for a mere moment. His hot breath tickled my face, as he was breathing heavily for a moment.
"Thank you," I replied sincerely, finding his bravery admirable as well as his courage.
"You are welcome," Thor responded sheepishly, it only lasted a moment as we both stood to our feet. Our eyes lingering on one another, but the alarms and all the panic of people around brought us out of the trance we seemed to be in. The Helicarrier began to lean to the side, tilting us enough to make me become unbalanced and bump into Thor, but he caught me by my shoulders, his warm hands could be felt through the mere fabric of the cloth.
"Go stop your brother," I announced, coming up straight, before he gave me a quick nod. He turns to the nearby door, leaning down to grab his hammer and leaves the lab, heading to the detention sector. I needed to help stabilise the ship, if another engine goes out, then the lives on here and below will be endangered.
With a swirl of my hand, green smoke engulfed me in one quick motion, sending me on my way, and cleared just as fast as it came. My eyes adjusted back to the bridge, I was standing on the platform that you could look out of the many windows, seeing that our descent was rapidly decreasing. I turned to face in the direction of Fury, his eye connected with mine, even his gaze was cold and stern, but even then I still wanted to help him. I inhaled a deep breath, before raising one leg and the other up, but I levitated in the air, and came into a seated position with my legs crossed, as if I was a child in assembly. I exhaled, raising my arms up and softly flicking my wrists outwards to the side, green energy began to leap off my fingers and my whole body, and raced around the bridge, seeping into the metals and got under the flooring. The energy flowed throughout the ship, getting fully under and began to lift the ship, supporting its weight. The ship of course weighed tons upon tons, so I was hoping Stark could reactivate the engine.
The energy kept on leaking from me as if I was a atomic bomb, and I was spilling out toxic radiation. Though that wasn't the case, my energy wouldn't hurt anyone if I didn't want it too. But I also had limitations, I'm not all powerful, I might be able to effortlessly bend metal bars, punch through steel, but everyone has weaknesses, and I wasn't the exemption. After a few minutes, I felt the ship begin to level back out fully this time, meaning Stark had reactivated the engine. I began to lower from my position, the green energy began to disperse from around, going from the walls, and the metal flooring of the ship, vanishing before everyone's eyes.
I came back to stand on my feet, looking over to Fury who was apporchative of my involvement. Though his expression didn't give anything away, his eye told a whole different story. But before I could even take a step, Fury ran off, hearing something from his ear piece. A sudden feeling washed over me, a feeling that was well known to me, even after all of these years. I blinked for a second, but when my eyes fluttered back open, they were met with Phil who was hurt pretty badly, my eyes glazed over him.
"Phil," I crouched beside him, his head turned slowly to meet my teary eyes. You think after centuries of losing people it would get easier, but it never did. "I am so sorry," I fought back the tears, even in the months that I got to know the new SHIELD, Phil was always the one who was willing to help, and not be sceptical of my appearances, or what I was. He never asked questions of the past, or wanted to know. He knew I was here to help humanity, to help keep people safe.
"It-it's ok," he wheezed the words out, before I noticed black leather coming towards us. His eyes just went straight through me, but he was more focused on something he could see.
"Sorry, boss," he managed to speak through his heavy breathing, Fury knelt down in front of Phil. "The god rabbited," he spoke while Nick removed the gun from his lap.
"Just stay awake. Eyes on me," he was stern and grabbed Phil by his chin, wanting him to be alert and awake so he didn't lose him.
"No, I'm clocking out here,"
"Not an option," Fury was going to fight for his friend's survival, but he lowered his hand from Phil's chin.
"It's ok, Boss... This was never gonna work if they didn't have something to-'' Phil managed to speak through the pain, but his head turned to the right, staring at me for a moment, holding a small smile. He drew his final breath, his eyes dropped, and death welcomed him. Tears fell from my eyes, as I stood back up and spun around, to be met with Phil's wandering eyes.
"Find peace Phil," was the only words I could muster up. His eyes travelled behind me to see his lifeless body.
"Are you here to take me to Heaven?" His eyes wandered back after a moment of staring, but I shook my head softly.
"I am only a spectator," I smiled thinly at him, as I couldn't stay. "Goodbye Phil, and do not be scared," he offered me a warm welcoming smile, and then darkness surrounded my eyes, and I was pulled back to my physical body. My eyes flutter back up as I was still on the bridge, some Agents looking at me funny for a moment. Death will always be a part of life, and no one can avoid it forever. My time will come, death will greet me, and my life will be over, and I am at peace with that. All I can do is protect humanity to the best of my abilities. Even if it takes another millian, I will stand my ground.
As that is what heros do...
