My eyes travelled up from the building I was facing to the portal in the sky, seeing that more Chitauri, and those creatures of theirs fly on through. It wasn't going to do us any good, if we didn't find a way to close that portal for good.

"Guys," Natasha's eyes were also upon that portal.

"Call it, Captain," Tony spoke, his voice muffled through the iron helmet.

"All right, listen up," Steve took charge, and took a few steps forward, his eyes remaining on the portal above. "Until we can, close that portal our priority is containment," Steve spun on his heels and took his gaze to Clint. "Barton, I want you on that roof. Eyes on everything. Call out patterns and strays. Stark, you got the perimeter. Anything gets more than three blocks out, you turn it back or you turn it to ask," Steve's index and middle fingers were pointed at Stark, and he reclined in and allowed his thumb to move back, indicating his instructions.

"Can you give me a lift?" Clint asks, his head turned to face Tony.

"Right. Better clench up, Legolas," Stark comes over, and grips Barton by his quiver, and uses his thrusters to fly into the air, taking Barton with him.

"Thor, you got to try and bottleneck that portal. Slow them down. You got the lightning. Light the bastards up," Steve gave the order to Thor, tossing his head back and forth from him and the portal. Thor swirls his hammer around a few times, before leaping into the air, and flying off. Cap's eyes then landed on me. "Ky, I want you to protect the people, get them out of the streets and into buildings or underground," he gave the order to me, making me swirl my sword around in my grasp.

"I will," I spoke with confidence, and rushed down the bridge without another word to them. I picked up my pace and began to run, hearing all sorts around me. Screams, crying, heart's beating rapidly. I already knew, lives will be lost, and I can't do anything about that. But I can protect the people who are left standing and in need of assistance.

Half-way down the bridge, I hear loud screams, the screams of fright. My head cocked to the right, and came to the edge of the bridge. In the distance was a family of four, Mother, Father, and their two daughters. They were pressed to a battered car, huddled together for protection. However, two Chitauri raised their weapons at them, and were ready to kill them.

Not on my watch.

I gripped the railing and jumped over, falling down to the road below. It wasn't a great height, but once I hit the ground, the concrete under my feet cracked ever so slightly. But it alerted the Chitauri to my presence from behind. Both didn't waste any time and began to fire at me, but I waved my sword to the oncoming blasts, deflecting them away from me, and to the side like a car or a building. The sound of their weapons didn't let up, but I managed to angel my sword just right for the oncoming blast to bounce off the surface and hit one of them. The Chitauri went flying to the side, dead, and the other one paused for a mere second, but it gave me my advantage. I pushed off from my legs, leaping through the air, and raised my sword up, and sliced through the Chitauri, before it could even blink - if they do. I came out from the crouch, and stood straight, just as the Chitauri body was split in two - from the waist. Blood blood stained my sword, all along the metallic surface. But my focus was on the family in front of me, still huddled together, but their eyes were wide.
