Dixie's POV:
I got up from my table and started making my way to campus I felt really good. I sat down on a bench near my college and called Addison because I knew she'd be worried about me since I didn't come to her apartment last night.
Me and Addison had a long conversation and she kept telling me how proud she was of me, she's amazing. I wanted to hug her, but she wasn't coming today so I had to wait until classes were finished.
Soon, the bell rang, and I got to my first class. I saw that boy eying me again, I thought I was going to break down right there, in front of him, but I didn't. I closed my eyes and breathed in and out a couple of times to calm myself down and to my surprise I gave him a short smile, he smiled back, and he was a quiet kid, so I was impressed, maybe he didn't do what I think he did, but for now I am keeping that thought at the back of my head. I didn't want to let my guard down too quickly.
After that class finished, I was putting my things back into my bag when I felt a tap on my shoulder. I flinched slightly but looked back.
''Hi, I'm Noah'', he said looking down.
''Hi, Noah, I'm Dixie nice to meet you!'', I said putting my hand out, looking around to see if anyone else was there.
''I know we just met but I have something really important to tell you, please don't run away... I really need you to know this. Please! Give me a chance.'', he said desperately.
I was taken back by his words. What did he mean? I was curious but at the same time I didn't want to know. I knew he was going to tell me something serious and I would break down. I wanted to run away but I wanted to give him an answer. I opened my mouth to speak but nothing came out. I just looked down and grabbed my bag getting ready to leave.
''Dixie, please!'', he pleaded.
''Look Noah we just met; how do you already have something 'important' to tell me? If you like me, I'm sorry but I'm not interested.'' I said making my way to the door.
''No! Dixie please! Just let me talk to you for 10 minutes.'' he said getting frustrated.
''NO! WHAT DON'T YOU UNDERSTAND? I WAS TRYING TO BE NICE BUT NO! LEAVE ME ALONE!'' I yelled getting out of that classroom at lightning speed.
Did I regret it? Absolutely not, he should've left me alone when I asked him to. Should I have said it in a better way? Yes. Yes, I should have. I didn't though so too bad for him. I wasn't about to let him ruin my day. I was giving life a second chance, and this was incredibly hard for me to do. I wasn't going to break down today I was on a one-day streak, and I wanted to keep it that way.
Did she really not feel bad? Perhaps not, but she always wanted to be that tough girl that was never phased by anyone or anything. She saw this as an opportunity. Maybe she did feel bad saying that to him, but she knew she wasn't going to go back and ask him what he wanted. It wasn't like her to give people a second chance. She had no reason to. Whoever she gave a second chance to blew it. So, she didn't see why Noah would do any different. Her life was full of tragedy, you can't really blame her for not wanting to hear him out.
Today after she got back home, she wanted to go out to dinner. Maybe even do some shopping later. She quickly got dressed into a white crewneck and a short white skirt, nothing too fancy but good enough. She then gave Addison a call wondering if she wanted to come with.
Addison being Addison agreed and showed up and Dixie's apartment in no time. She wanted to know more about how Dixie completely changed in one day, but she decided against it.
Addison and Dixie spent hours trying on different clothes in several different stores. They were spending a lot of money, but Dixie didn't care. All she had ever spent money on was food. Today was unusual, she didn't mind spending thousands. She wanted to be happy, and she was!
They returned to Dixie's apartment past 11 and decided to have a sleepover and skip the next day. They wanted to catch up on things since they hadn't talked much in a while. Whenever they saw each other, Dixie wasn't feeling well so they decided to jump to the opportunity.
Dixie's day was going great Noah's on the other hand was not. He had known that this might happen, but he didn't want to think about the chances. Now that it had happened, he had no idea what to do. His mind went completely blank, almost as if it had shut off.
He didn't know when his dad planned to kill her but surely it was soon. He needed to protect her, but she wouldn't even want to see his face after what happened earlier in the day. He decided to give it one more shot. If this didn't work, he would have to do something way more... extreme.
He could just hope that Dixie listened to him this time because if she didn't, she would make it harder for both her and Noah. He didn't want to put her through more than she had already been through, it would be too much for her.
Although it was none of Noah's business, he always wondered why Dixie didn't have any protection. I mean not that he knew what went on in her life, he was just confused on how a mafia leaders' daughter just went around completely normally. Maybe it was just a coverup? Or even a disguise?
There were a lot of possibilities though, so he tried not to poke his nose into it. For now, he had a much bigger problem to worry about.

It's literally 4:30 a.m right now. Also, I have these random boosts of energy where I want to write so badly. I'm probably starting another chapter today. Oh, and we probably won't be going to school because of the new variant 😭
