Ghost of Christmas Past:

Coulson was watching the hallmark channel when he heard a knock at his door. His eyebrows came together and he immediately turned off the tv. He shot a glance at the clock sitting on the in table.

Who the hell would be here at twelve at night? Coulson thought to himself. Slowly and quietly he walked over to the door and pulled a gun out of his coat pocket that was hanging on the coat rack. He kept it down at the ready and flipped the safety off.

Coulson very carefully looked out the door window and his mouth dropped. He quickly set the pistol down and opened the door.

"Melinda?!" May looked up at him with red puffy eyes, her arms were crossed and she was shivering in the cold.

"C-could I come in?" She asked softly. Coulson nodded and put a hand on her back to lead her in.

"Yes of course." May walked in and let out a short breath of relief when the warmth spread through her body. Coulson shut the door behind him.

He felt a little relieved about seeing her, even at her state. She hasn't come out of her apartment sense Bahrain.

"Are you ok?" He asked putting a hand on her arm. Coulson looked at her with concerned eyes, she was absolutely freezing. "Here come sit." Coulson lead her into his living room and sat her down on the couch.

"I'm sorry..." she muttered, tears pouring down her cheeks. Coulson sat down next to her. "I just... I couldn't be alone." She sobbed.

"Shhh shhh." Coulson shushed her sobs as he pulled her quivering form into his arms. "It's okay, you're always welcome here...always." May heaved a shaky breath and fisted his shirt.

"I'm sorry, you probably have plans with Audrey." Coulson shook his head and kissed hers. "We broke up." Mays eyes went wide and she looked at him.

"What- w-why?!" May wiped away her tears and awaited his answers.

"I was interested in someone else." Coulson replied with a shrug. May nodded and laid her head back on her shoulder. Coulson hugged her tight and lovingly. May felt safe sitting in his warm embrace.

"I've missed you." May tightened her grip on him.

"I'm sorry for kicking you out." She murmured.

"Stop saying you're sorry... everything is okay. Whatever happened in the past I don't care, I forgive you." May closed her eyes and scooted closer to him.

"Can I stay here tonight?" She asked softly. Coulson grinned and kissed her head.

"Of course you can, you can stay as long as you want."

"...can I hold your hand?" Coulson looked down at her, he very gently took her hand in his and held it tight.

"You don't even have to ask." May gave a very small grin and looked up at him. For a moment they're eyes clashed and May saw the familiar twinkle she loved so much.

May very gently moved her head up and Coulson bent his down. Their lips met together in a soft manner, nothing too powerful just short and gentle.

Just how she imagined kissing him for the first time. One of his hands against her cheek, the other on her hand. Sitting the couch with a movie playing in the background like teenagers.

  It was perfect.

They both pulled away after a moment and looked into each others eyes. May laid her head back onto his shoulder but this time she wasn't afraid to press her body against him.
