JJ's pov:
It was January 1 and I was running very late to work. What a great way to start off the year. Late to go hunt down a new serial killer.

It was 30° outside but again, I was extremely late so I didn't have time to get a jacket. I just made a run from the front door to my car and blasted the heater. Of course my windshield was frozen over because, the universe hates me.

I was finally able to get the car started and I arrived at the bau only... 30is minutes late? Not terrible but also not great. Luckily Hotch actually hadn't noticed that I wasn't there yet so I could avoid getting yelled at by him.

I walked over to the coffee machine but my finger fumbled around with the buttons because my hands were pretty much frozen solid.

I hear a voice behind me and nearly jump out of my skin. "Having some trouble there are we?"

I turned around and it was Emily. She was smiling and holding a steaming cup of coffee which she handed me. I pressed my hands to the warm cup trying to thaw them out before taking a sip.

"I love you." I laughed. Emily smiled. "Are you talking to me or the coffee?" "Uh... both?"

She giggled taking a sip of her own coffee as Morgan walked up to us. "Hey princess what do I have to do for you to bring me a cup of coffee every once in a while?" He said in his usual manner.

"You know what? If you were frozen solid maybe, maybe, you would be lucky enough for me to bring you one." Emily smirked.

Morgan jokingly reached for the coffee cup in my hands. "try it and I bite you."

He looked very taken aback but I don't think he doubted that I would do it. I was very protective of my coffee.

Emily was trying her best not to burst out laughing while Morgan shook his head and went back to his desk.

Emily and I were alone again. "So agent Jareau care to tell me what made you late this morning?" She joked. My face turned slightly red.

"I was only slightly hungover." I lied. That was untrue. I was very hungover. "What did you do last night?" She asked me.

"Oh I just went to a bar and kicked ass in darts." I said proudly. Darts is definitely one of my strong suits. "Ohh and that's it? Meet anyone?" She said with a small smile.

I winced slightly but I don't think it was noticeable. "Oh no I went home alone." I laughed. "I'm going to attempt to actually get some work done now." I smiled and started to walk away.

I got into my office and locked the door. I collapsed onto the couch trying to pull myself together and actually do some work. It took me a while though because the bar comment messed with my brain a bit.

It's not that I blame Emily in anyway for saying it, because I hadn't told her about the incident and why it made me so upset. A little backstory on why I never meet guys in bars. Ever.

Emily joined the team last year. I had been working with the team for three years, straight out of the academy.

Three years ago there was a graduation ceremony for everyone at the academy at this local bar. I went alone, stupidly. I got way more drunk than I was planning on which was again, stupid.

I ended up falling unconscious and one of my classmates mark, dragged me to the bathroom. His friend were with him and mark started taking off my clothes while I was unconscious.

One of his friends got a video of him having sex with me. I woke up and tried to fight him off but I couldn't, so eventually everyone just left and I was there laying on that bathroom floor for a think maybe a whole day until someone found me.

Mark posted the video online. I took it to court and got it taken down but once something is on the internet it's really there for good.

I got it scrubbed off as well as I could but still. Nothing ever happened to mark. He actually works a few floors below us. He was a an agent, but something happened and he got his gun and badge taken away. He had a low paying desk job there now.

To be honest being more successful than him made me happy. Knowing that deep down somewhere he's jealous of me. He was constantly talking about the bau when we were classmates. Now that I have this job and he doesn't, it makes me feel like maybe I did get something over him.

Anyways I never sleep with people in bars anymore for obvious reasons. No one here has found that video yet and I'm extremely grateful for that. Even Garcia hasn't dug it up, but to do that she would probably have to go pretty deep into my past and that's a pretty big invasion of my privacy so I don't think she would do that.

But anyways I was finally able to get off the couch and brush it off. It was three years ago I should be over it anyways.

I sat down at my desk trying my best not to chug the entire cup of coffee in one sip. I started on my enormously stack of case files that I had to write.

About an hour in I ran out of coffee so I went down to get another cup. I wasn't paying attention and I nearly walked straight into Emily who was also going to the kitchen.

"Hello again." She laughed. "Long time no see." I responded. Her face turned a little more serious. "Are you okay? You looked a little weird when you went back to your office. Did I say something or..."

"No no you didn't do anything." I assured her. "I'm just tired and I have this killer headache." That wasn't actually a lie. I am extremely tired and my head does hurt from drinking last night.

"I'm sorry." She frowned. She reached into the cabinet and pulled out a bottle of Advil handing me two pills before putting it back. I accepting them gratefully and refilled my coffee taking them with that instead of water.

"You're a life saver. Now I should probably go for round two on that huge stack of case files that are waiting more me." I laugh. "Same goes for me." She smiled as she walked back to her desk.
