this whole royal merchant search had stirred up the whole summer we had planned.

we were meant to be drinking, partying sleeping with random people, basically everything a normal sixteen year old would want to do.

now my presumed dead father could be alive, hiding out somewhere leaving me and john b worried and depressed without him.

a part of me was mad at him, for leaving us with no explanation. although, all i really wanted was my small dysfunctional family back.

john b was talking for ages about the message in the compass in the twinkie, i was sat in the passenger seat with the rest of the pogues in the back. john b was taking us somewhere in the van, he wanted it to be a surprise for me for some reason.

"its possible that you're concocting wild theories to help, you know, with your sad feels" pope stated the obvious.

john b tried interrupting before jj butted into the conversation "bro, you know how i process my sad feels" he began "dank nugs and the stickiest of ickies, thats how i do it"

i looked out the rearview mirror watching jj confused about what i thought of earlier.

"charley, our dad is trying to give us a message" john b said turning to face me whilst driving "and you three don't know what its like to have the person closest to you vanish" he pointed to the pogues in the back who were looking down feeling bad.

i faded away for a moment thinking about what john b said, was he right, is it wrong for me to fall into the delusion of what he was saying.

we drove further down the road passing the lighthouse sign "redfield lighthouse" john b announced.

"dads favourite place" i added as my face lit up seeing the tall pale blue and white building.

we stepped out the van and the sun streamed into my eyes making me squint. "your gonna look out for boogeys" john b ordered jj pointing at the blonde making him question john b.

pope then spoke "jj there are independent and dependent variables, you're independent, we don't know what you'll do"

i then stepped forward "its okay j, i'll stay with you"

the other three went up into the light house and i sat down on the grass next to jj under a tree "thought you would want to go up?" he asked me running his hand through his hair.

i cleared my throat "well, its quite dodgy and high up" i answered smiling at the boy "besides i like your company"

he looked down at me staying silent for a moment, I could tell what I said meant a lot to him by the look in his eyes.
