"My name is Karli Morgenthau. I'm going to need you to act like you're speaking to someone you know, or something bad is going to happen"

Lexie looked up at Bucky who was mouthing "who is it?" And forced herself to smile. Moving the phone away from her mouth she whispered "it's fine Bucky, it's just my accountant calling about some paperwork or something" He looked sceptical, but nodded.

She moved away from him and sat down on the couch, the phone back to her ear "so what is it you need from me again Michael?"

Karli chuckled "oh how easily we lie to those we love. Now, listen very carefully. I know you are a woman with a good, kind heart, because otherwise how could you find it in yourself to forgive and fall in love with someone who has done such terrible things"

"No, I don't think that's right" Lexie answered cautiously

"Well I guess we'll see. I have someone here you know, not well as far as I am aware but I guess we will test the true nature of your heart. I have Lemar Hoskins here, nobody will ever find him so you need to do as I say. I will send you the location, you will come and you will come alone, if you do this I will let him go. If you do not come, or you don't come alone I will kill him"

Lexie cleared her throat nervously "I can't right now Michael, I'm actually on holiday with my boyfriend at the minute"

"Find a way, or Lemar dies."

"Ok, no problem. I'll come see you as soon as possible"

"See, I knew it. Good heart"

The line went dead and Lexie stared at the screen as a text from an unknown number popped through with an address, she swallowed hard, as if trying to swallow the truth that was desperately trying to come out. "Everything alright Chip?"

"Yeah everything's fine, I think I'm just feeling a bit overwhelmed with everything that's been going on these last few days" she let out a shaky breath, waiting to see if Bucky would buy her feeble lie.

"Of course, it has been a lot even for the likes of me and Sam. Is there anything I can do?"

Of course he believes me. He trusts me. He loves me. And I'm lying to him. But I have to, or Lemar will die and it will be my fault Lexie smiled softly at Bucky "I did notice the bathroom in this place has an amazing tub, maybe you could run me a bath?"

He kissed her on the forehead and grinned down at her "only if I can join you"

"Of course" she winked. Bucky ran off happily towards the bathroom, leaving Lexie and Sam alone. "I think I'm going to step outside for a minute, get some fresh air"

Sam eyed her suspiciously "are you sure?"

"Sure if I want some air?" She chuckled nervously

"Lexie." Sam said sternly "are you sure you know what you're doing?"

"W-what?"

"Babe, Bucky's a smart guy, but when it comes to you he's an idiot. That wasn't your accountant was it?"

Lexie's mouth open and closed as she tried to figure out what to say. Eventually her shoulders slumped "no"

"Karli?"

"Yes"

His whole body tensed "did she threaten you?"

"No. But she has Lemar, she said if I don't go alone she'll kill him"

"Lexie.."

"I can't let her kill him Sammy. I'd never be able to live with myself"

Sam ran his hand down his face and began to pace "are you sure Lex? Are you sure you're not going to get hurt?"
