Chapter Twenty-Three
"It seems that the tide is starting to turn in our favor. The rebels having been losing ground now as more are turning away from them." Wilde point to the map on the table. "Towns like that one are proving that the governments are now on our side."
Now instead of an abundance of red markers where places had been wiped out by the rebels or conflicts they started, there were more green over the red. Wilde's finger pointing to one town that had been wiped out at the start of the war, but now it was thriving again as now that the governments around the world were protecting more and more towns from rebel attacks so life can start to build again. All my Alphas were working in tandem with each of the governments within their territories as well as several of the rebel territories to minimize the loss of life.
It had taken so long to get to this point. So long for the human leaders around world to see how damaging it had been not to work with us. The president of the US had been the last to finalize his side. After reports after reports were offered to him, he decided to act. Most of the reports had been from my own people just so he was kept in the loop.
This war hadn't been just for my kind, but for everyone in the world. Humans and wolves alike were battling just to live. When word spread about why the war began, I doubt they could understand it. How the war could have been started just because I was born a royal and came forward, not to rule as the rebels were making everyone believe, but just to be known that I was what I was. I hated hiding like I had and just wanted to be free to live without fear.
Now the war was turning and the numbers we were receiving from our ally on the rebel side told that the rebels were dwindling. They had been so full of confidence that they could kill me before a month was out, and now it's been several years since all this began. My journal had grown so full of names that we've just been having to put pages of the names toward the back. Hand stitching them into the binding just to make sure I lost not one page from it.
Talismans hung from our banners. All but one talisman. Louis'. His was made into a necklace by Deena and now Faith had it around her neck. Most of the time it was hidden under her shirts so it rested over her heart. It was the closest she could get to him now that he was gone.
"From all the reports we've been getting, the rebels are gathering together for the battle tomorrow. They are hoping that they could overwhelm us with their numbers." But they have no clue that we knew what they were planning.
Roughe had been diligent in getting us all the information quickly. From the sound of his messages, he was more than antsy to no longer being a rebel. Though he was playing his role right, he detested it with all this heart.
Wilde looked up as watched the young wolf who had come in. The wolf being the same one that Daemon nearly killed months ago during one of our darkest battles. The battle that had the most casualties in one battle throughout the whole war. Weeks after that battle, the young man had switched to our side.
What the wolf had done when he came into the camp was the most embarrassing thing anyone had ever done. The moment he was presented to me, he was bowing and kissing my feet, both of them. Ian had to drag the young man off and told him never to do that. The wolf had sobbed the whole time because I had saved his life that day.
The look on Daemon's face was one of deep regret and guilt. He felt more guilting when the wolf had seen him sitting off to the side. The wolf yelped and wet himself. He peed his shorts right there in the royal tent being beyond scared that Daemon was going to kill him.
Ian had to take the young wolf out of the tent and over to Iagan who was doing well being a teen guy with Nick and Nat's help. Iagan taking the young man under his wing as my brothers had him and helped hose him down. Now the young wolf was a messenger after Derek had a talking with him. Though he still was beyond scared of Daemon and his eyes always going right to where Daemon was wherever he happened to be in the tent or outside.
