Chapter Twenty-Eight

~~Deena's Point Of View~~

Every step felt odd yet right as I moved through the battle that raged intently around me. It felt like I had stepped outside of the battle to become an observer. I now was separated from the world all round me. I just didn't care.

My shoulder pulsing with a low electric current right from my goddess given mark. A mark that made me feel beyond powerful as I followed the faintest of dark intent connection lines that linked up to Nina. The color becoming more solid the closer I was getting to what I hoped to be the source of the malice. The true traitor among our ranks.

Those fighting around me as I passed them seem to instinctually avoid me as they were wild in the battle. Their instincts telling them to move out of the was even though they didn't even see anything. The energy I was emitting thanks to the Goddess mark was humming out from all around me to the others I passed.

Taking moment, I noticed that our side wasn't acting so blood thirsty as the rebel's side. It was easy to see several fault because they just wanted to kill so badly that they didn't pay attention. There were only a few moments that I had to dodge or move quickly out of the way before someone threw me off my trail because of the rebel's bloodlust making them reckless.

The world turned more of a soft blue hue as I walked farther through the battle. Seeing the world like this, I knew the goddess given ability she bestow upon me cloaked my body from everyone's sight as I hunted this traitor down. It reaffirmed what I had already known. This ability was helping me find the hidden threat to Nina's life and our cause to fight.

The sickening green connection that lead my way, that turned my stomach, to Nina that threatened her showed another color within it. Blood red. A color invoking they had the desire for her blood to run very shortly. That they wanted more than just malice, but was in bloodlust as well. The closer I got to where Nina was, the solidarity of the connection came. The traitor was getting closer to Nina as I was getting closer to him.

I dared not stop moving now. Making my feet move as my eyes followed the strand to the traitor nothing was going to stop me from my mission. I was unsure that if I stopped moving, I might become visible in the battle and lose this solid lead to the traitor. This could be my only shot to get this person before he or she strikes.

~~Shane's Point Of View~~

I smiled as I dodged his cheap shot. It almost made me laugh as if he had tried that shot during every battle. Like it would ever work. And this coming from an Alpha that should be the most fearsome of all with how well established he was as an Alpha.

And of course he'd try to add in a kick as if it would throw me off. It was coming to be expected he'd try different things after that cheap shot. Trying to change it up on me, but the one thing he didn't realize was that I knew all his tells now. Every single one of them. He was too arrogant to even care that he had them.

Once he boosted that he could beat me without even thinking about, I knew I had to take him down. Said it in front of all his pack in the start of one of the battles early on. Too bad he hasn't been able to beat me yet since that battle. At best, we have been coming to a draw. I was just as equally matched as he was.

The Alpha snarled at me as he took in the smile that was still plastered on my face. He flipped open his nine inch hunting knife with a jagged edge opposite side from the blade. "You pup are FINISHED!" He lunged forward and I took a defensive stance bracing myself for when we met.
