37 : The Lover

Crown Prince Reginald was grinning ear to ear while watching Darya sign the documents of their legal relationship. As soon as she was done, he walked closer to her, pulled her and kissed her in front of everyone that was there to witness. These include the Emperor, the Corstan Chamberlain, the Priest, and Duke Esteban.

When it was done, Reginald was sticking to Darya as he never left her throughout the day. As for Duke Esteban, he had to come back to the Dukedom after attending the ceremony. He might not like that the Corstan Crown Prince was so clingy to his wife but... he knows that he should not do something she won't like. Duke Esteban left the Imperial Palace with a heavy heart.

Darya was busy doing all her work as the Crown Princess. However, she could not help but look at Reginald who's going around her office, doing anything to ease his boredom. A while ago, he was just reading books and now he is eating the snacks given to her by the maids. She ignored him and just continued her work until then someone knocked on the door. She let her personal aid open it and then she smelled a familiar scent, making her immediately raise her head to look at the person she only knew had that scent.

"Desmond?" She was surprised to see Captain Theobarlt come in her office when he does not usually come when it is not to the schedule.

"You are finally here, Sir Theobarlt." Darya's personal aid was so happy to see Captain Theobarlt come. He was the one who secretly made an order to call for him because he is so irritated by the presence of the Corstan Crown Prince.

Upon entering the office, Captain Theobarlt's eyes met Reginald's who's eating snacks. He then ignored him and just went straight to Darya.

"I greet Her Highness, Crown Princess Darya." Captain Theobarlt lowered his head upon facing Darya.

Seeing Darya standing up upon seeing him, it caught Reginald's attention, especially when Darya walked closer to him. What shocked Reginald is when Darya put her arms around his waist as if embracing him.

"Just in time, I want to relax for a bit." Darya smiled at Captain Theobarlt, making Reginald stand up and annoyed.

"What impertinence is this?"

Darya and Captain Theobarlt both turned their gazes at him. Upon seeing the dejection in his face, Darya knew what could be the best way to take him under control. She smiled and faced Reginald.

"It seems like I have neglected my duty to inform you about this 'impertinence' you speak of."

Reginald was so confused. Who is this man to her?

Still with her right hand on Captain Theobarlt's waist, she leaned her head to his chest "This is the Captain of the Gates, Sir Desmonde Theobarlt," she paused for a few seconds before continuing, "...my lover."

Reginald could not believe what he just saw and what he just witnessed. What? It's not Duke Esteban he should look for but a captain of knights?

"I hope that there will be no pandemonium regarding my relationship with my consorts and my lover."

Darya's personal aid was proudly smirking with the sight of Reginald being annoyed in jealousy. In fact, he does not like Reginald for his master especially that he is a Corstan Prince.

"I would like to take a walk with Captain Theobarlt. Would you let me do so?" She beamed at Reginald who was not able to speak.

He was raging inside like his veins were being pulled out. He thought that it is going to be easy to manipulate everyone to make Crown Princess Darya his' but he never thought that he is actually going to deal not just the Duke but also this tall man she is holding. Why is she so clingy towards this man and not to her first consort? Is this man her original lover and not the Duke?

He needs to calm down. He should not let his feelings go over his rationality. He is smart which is why Darya took him so he must prove to her that he will always be using his head over his feelings in situations like this. He just needs to make this man be the one to act immature right?

With that thought, a smile on his lips appeared, looking like a little non-harmful lamb. "I have no judgement on any decision of Her Highness, my wife. Please take your time with your lover, since I will be your company tonight."

Reginald has a devilish plan on making Captain Theobarlt extremely jealous but he just waited for nothing. It surprised him to see no reaction to his face.

"Alright, please enjoy your snacks, Crown Prince Reginald." Darya left the office while holding Captain Theobarlt's hand.

While watching their hands, Reginald was looking at Darya then to Captain Theobarlt who looked not even an ounce bothered. This made his blood boil as he glared at Darya's personal aid.

"You were the one who asked that lowly man to be here?"

"Yes, is there any problem with me calling the Crown Princess' lover?" Darya's personal aid raised his brows to spit more realistic words. "I have been with Her Highness' since she became the Crown Princess. I have also been acquainted with her since she was four year-old. My experience and intuition as a subject who had seen her grow up, I have confidence to tell when Her Highness is tired or bored or when she needs her lover. So," he paused for a few seconds to stare at Reginald's eyes.

"I tell you that you will never make Her Highness' heart be yours nor will she ever give you a chance to heed your intentions."

Reginald was left with no choice but to walk out of the office, feeling extremely annoyed. He went straight to his room to avoid everyone talking to him because he knows that he is not going to like what he might do. He wants to see blood but his actions are limited in the Largoth Empire.

He started biting his fingers out of habit. He is thinking about how he could gain the attention of the Crown Princess. He is thinking about how he can make her fall in love so he can get his hands to the Empire. His main goal is to become the Emperor and making the Crown Princess fall in love with him is just a minor goal. However, he felt like he should consider changing his plan and prioritize the Crown Princess' attention.

However, if he wants to get her attention, he just needs to get rid of that man right?
