72: The Immigrants

Darya finally rested after having a meal with Zale. Because she felt relaxed, she decided to go to her chambers for a while to rest. And while she was resting, with her permission, Lavenorth checked the documents she had been doing all night. And it surprised him to see the content of it. Emperor Darya, undoubtedly, used her one time opportunity of a forced power to make an Imperial Law. 

“Forced Power” is a one-time opportunity given to an Emperor. When an Emperor established a law for the empire, he would normally proceed to the process which is having 50 percent approval from the nobles before it becomes an Imperial law. When an Emperor uses “Forced Power”, nobles would need not to interfere and whatever the Emperor decided, the nobles do not have the right to show disagreement.

At this moment, Emperor Darya just made an Imperial law regarding the giving of rewards to the family of the knights who have fought for the Empire. Not just the most notable ones of them but whoever Knight it was. Is this because she had seen the grieving situation at the infirmary? She would like to give them all a reward for their hard work? Indeed, the former Emperor had chosen the right Emperor of the Largoth Empire. 

The next morning, it was an uproar to the nobles to hear that the Emperor had used the “forced power” and it is not just bad news to see a new Imperial law but that Imperial law was also a threat to their power as nobles. The knights of the Empire will be given so much reward such as titles, lands, and opportunities. Some of the nobles could not believe that such measly knights could go to higher rank just because of losing limbs in a battlefield!

“Outrageous!” Count Marshall could not retain his emotion anymore. He crumpled the message he had received out of anger after reading its content.

He is so mad after knowing that he is in dire position just because the Emperor used the “forced power”. Did she deliberately use the “forced power” so the nobles could not decline her? What an impertinent move.

“My lord,” Count Marshall’s personal aid came inside his office and lowered his head. “You have a visitor from the Imperial Palace, would you like to meet him?”

Count Marshall’s brows furrowed as he tried calming down after hearing that it was coming from the Imperial Palace. 

“Who is it?” He asked.

And just as he heard the aid’s reply, he immediately stood up to go meet his visitor. He told his butler to send the best snacks as soon as possible. He had been exchanging letters with this visitor and he is the reason why most of his business is expanding across the world. It is because of this intelligent visitor that made him the wealthiest noble as of date. He could not just ignore that this visitor had finally decided to meet him personally in this way.

“I greet the Crown Prince of the Corstan Kingdom, the second consort of Her Majesty, the Emperor.” He lowered his head before going to the opposite side.

“Thank you and I would like to apologize for visiting without prior notice.” Reginald smiled.

“There is no need to be formal when it comes to you, your highness. But what makes you come all the way to this faraway land?”

Reginald leaned his back to his seat with a grin on his lips. He put his right leg to his left while crossing his arms. “I have a proposal, Lord Marshall.”

“This subject is prepared to listen, your highness.” Somehow, he is feeling nervous about what Crown Prince Reginald is going to say next.

Just as silence had become louder, Count Marshall’s eyes widened after hearing what Reginald just uttered. 

“Rebellion.”

“I would like to lead a rebellion with you, Lord Marshall.”

Count Marshall’s body started getting cold when that word penetrated in his ears. Crown Prince Reginald did not ask a question but rather a statement. This only means that Crown Prince Reginald has already decided to use him with his plan about rebellion. He started sweating as he thought even more about it. There is no way he could decline this proposal as he is the one taking advantage of Crown Prince Reginald’s plans to expand his business. And it is as if he is looking at the whole Corstan Kingdom in front of him now. If he ever insults the Crown Prince of this Kingdom, his life would be over.
