Your nap went longer then expected, when you woke up it was 1:35p.m. . Killer had texted you letting you know he was leaving ten minutes to come and get you.
It was a rush to get ready, you slipped on an ankle length baby blue dress that had a floral pattern on it. You put a cream coloured knitted button up over top of it and paired the outfit with your black doc martens. Luckily your hair didn't get messed up in your sleep.
You headed upstairs and gathered the food you'd prepared for the picnic. You didn't have a picnic basket, so you had taken your textbooks out of your backpack and put the food in there. Shortly after Killer showed up, he'd come up and knocked at your front door. It was a gentlemanly act, but your brother was the one to answer the door and he was now interrogating the blond.
"You look like a punk, are you a punk? You better not get my sister involved in any of your shenanigans. Orchid lake is a bit far out of town, why are you taking my sister out there? You better not be planning any funny-"
"Stop with the twenty-one questions Chris. Killer's a nice guy and I'm the one who suggested Orchid lake." You pushed your brother away from the door. You yelled a goodbye into the house and got a response from your dad and grandma. Before your brother could say anything else you stepped out of the house and shut the door behind you. "Sorry about him."
"It's fine, he's just looking out for you." Killer wasn't bothered by your older brother's behavior.
Killer opened the passenger side door of his truck for you, you hopped in and set your backpack down by your feet. The front seats of the truck was a bench styled seat, you would have opted to sit closer Killer but he had a picnic basket in the middle of the seat. The truck made a loud rumbling noise as the blond started up, it dulled down into a low purr as he drove along.
"And you said my car was loud." You smirked over at your date.
"Hey now, Betty here only starts up loud. She doesn't stay noisy like your old thing." Killer snickered while patting the dashboard. You couldn't help but laugh at this, what he said about your car was true but you could also tell that he was teasing you. The car ride was filled with playful banter as you two got closer to your destination.
Orchid lake was half an hour out of town and with it being early fall many of the trees had turned different shades of yellow and orange. Killer pulled his truck into the lake's parking lot, there was only a few other vehicles dotting the lot.
"Did you want to setup next to the lake or I know a spot that not many people should know about. It's a pretty nice view of the whole area if you're fine with a bit of a hike." Killer suggested, he grabbed his picnic basket off the seat and stepped out if the car with you.
"I'm fine with a hike." You agreed to the spot Killer had suggested. Your dress was loose enough in the leg area that you'd be able to hike comfortably in it.
"This way then." Killer took your hand in his and led you to a path that was in the opposite direction of the lake. The walk wasn't so bad, the incline wasn't a steep one which made it easier to walk along. Before getting all the was up the path, Killer turned down an overgrown pathway. It looked like it used to be in frequent use, but over the years people forgot about it and nature took over once again. After a short while on the path it opened up to a grassy clearing.
No one else was there and you two had an uninterrupted view of the lake. Which apparently got it's name because it's shape was that of an orchid, something you didn't see while looking at the lake. It looked like an oval to you.
Killer pulled a checkered blanket out of his basket and layed it out on the ground. You joined him on the blanket and started pulling the food you brought out of your backpack. The spread of food was quite a lot, along with the sandwiches, pie, and snacks which was just a few bags of chips you brought. Killer had soup in a thermos, pasta salad, corn on the cob, and chicken wings prepared for you two.
