Chase's POV
It felt good to be back in school, back with my friends. Whistling my favourite tunes, I decided to find Cassie first as I am sure that she would kick up a fuss if she found out that she was not the first to be informed of my return. I was just about to walk around the corner to Cassie's class when a tiny girl walked into me.
I have heard from my older pack mates of how they first met their mates. Fang, my cousin, who is five years older than me, told me that when his eyes landed on Kate, his mate, he felt that the world has come to a stop and no one else but her existed. It was the first time his wolf stir in interest and wanted to drown in her sweet scent more than anything else. Both wolf and man thought that she was the most desirable woman to have existed. I had snorted in disbelieve as I did not believe in love at first sight.
But now, staring at the girl who had bumped into me, I finally believed whatever they say. It feels as if the whole world has stop for a long moment. My wolf woke up and we took a deep breathe in. Lavender and a hint of spring rain. In my mind eye, I could see Wolf rolling around, basking in her scent. However, I was not contented. I want to see her face, see our mate. But she kept her head down and seems to be utterly fascinated with her shoe.
Before I could open my mouth to tell her to look up, the girl interrupted.
"Sorry..." the girl mumbled.
Our heart skipped a beat. Her voice is like a soothing bell ringing deep into our soul. Wolf rumbled, calmed by her voice. I was amazed. He has been pestering me non-stop to change and let him run free again. Yet, just at the sound of this girl's voice, he contents himself with just being near her.
The girl must be unnerved when I did not reply immediately for she said hesitantly,"Erm...I am sorry?"
Blinking, I tried to pull myself back together. When her eyes met mine, my breathe hitched. Her eyes are of the same shade of brown as my wolf! No way this is a coincident.
Her hair consist of different shades of brown. From the brown of ripe wheat to the dark brown of a dark chocolate. They are curly and wild which only makes me want to grab a fist full of them and rub my face against them.
Her nose is rather small and had to support a large pair of spectacles. She kept having to push them up whenever they slide down which is a few times per minutes. Rather adorable of her. I resisted the urge to kiss her on her nose. My wolf growled in disapproval as he wanted to know if she taste as nice as she smell.
Another trait I found very adorable were her freckles. There had to be like hundreds of them dusting her cheeks and nose. Again, my wolf urged me to kiss each and every one of her freckles. I pushed him aside as I do not wish to frighten her the first time we meet.
A small hand appeared in my vision, waving to get my attention. It suddenly occurred to me that the girl had knocked into me and might have hurt herself.
Feeling worried, I quickly asked her, “Are you alright? I am sorry. I wasn't looking where I was going. Did I hurt you?"
