Chase's POV

Holding onto Dianna's hand, I guided her towards a small platform at the backyard of the pack house. Everyone had already gathered there and was waiting patiently for us. Mum smiled and gestured for us to hurry up and start the ceremony. I nodded in acknowledgement and quickened my footsteps.

Clearing my throat nervously, I spoke out. "Today is the eve of the blue moon. In another day's time, we will be celebrating the gift that our mother moon had granted to her children, the werewolves, us! But for tonight, my motive for calling all of you here is not about tomorrow's hunt but to introduce to the pack my mate and your alpha female, Dianna!"

I took a step to my right and exposed a very shy Dianna who was hiding behind me to the view of the pack members. Very timidly, Dianna raised her hand and waved. I smiled at her encouragingly.

"Erm...Nice to meet all of you. My name is Dianna Campbell." Dianna said and ducked her head in embarrassment.

I slipped my hand into hers and gave her a reassuring squeeze.

"Is there anything any of you wish to clarify?" I asked loudly, at the same time showing clearly on my face that I would not be pleased that there would be any rejection of my mate. Just as I was about to acknowledge that there was no objection and I wanted Dianna to be officially be known to be my mate, a high pitched annoying voice rang out.

"I object!" came the screech. Wolf wanted to snarl at the way this voice was irritating our delicate and highly sensitive ears. Most of the people in the crowd flinched and some covered their ears. Dianna tightened her gripe on my hand out of nervousness. Taking a step, I placed myself in front of Dianna to protect her.

A blond shifter stood up suddenly. She was skinny to the point of starving. Her body would be what people describe as bamboo thin. Hips trying to sway seductively, she strutted towards the stage. I frowned. How could she try to be sexy when her body is so shapeless.

Then, something clicked inside me. I realised that this girl is the daughter of the alpha of the Peru pack. She was sent here because her alpha claimed that his pack is facing some kind of conflict and sent her here to protect her. Behind the Peru alpha, Cassie whispered that the Peru alpha had actually sent her here in hope that she would turn out to be my mate so she would be the future alpha female of the West American pack and so the Peru alpha will have Chase's pack under his thumb.

Wolf grimaced. I had to agreed. Who would actually want a female that is annoying and noisy as his mate. For the few days since she stayed in his father pack, she had stuck herself to me like a leech. The more I had tried to pry her off me, the harder she stuck herself to me. Wolf had nearly gone crazy and wanted to attack her for daring to challenge his dominance by refusing to leave even though I command her to do so. Father had to step in to force her to stop being an annoyance to me.
