Dianna's POV

Yawning, I rubbed my eyes tiredly. The bed felt hard and so uncomfortable that my body felt sore and my joints felt rusty. As I took in the unfamiliar surroundings, my memory from last night returned. I am sleeping in one of the many rooms in the East American pack house! In an instant, all my exhaustion was forgotten. Quickly, I went into the washroom and clean up. After putting on a plain tee and jeans, I tip toe out of the room, careful not to disturb the rest of the sleeping girls.

In the kitchen, a few other girls are already awake, eating breakfast. Catching sight of Mrs Silver, I smiled shyly before taking a seat across her. She looked up and smiled a warm smile in return.

“Good Morning, Dianna.”

“Good Morning, Mrs Silver.”

Mrs Silver laughed. “Look at the dark shadows under your eyes. You must not have a good night sleep.”

“I am not used to the bed here. It’s kind of scratchy and hard.” I admitted.

“Why don’t I get you a cup of coffee?” She asked, her and reaching towards a steaming coffee pot.

This sent my taste buds into alert mode and I all but drool as she poured the coffee for me. I added a packet of creamer into my coffee. Lifting the cup to my mouth, I sipped the creamy goodness. And my eyes fluttered as I savoured the taste of the coffee.

“You are a coffee addict, aren’t you?” Mrs Silver stare at me amusement thick in her eyes.

“Yes. I can’t survive the day without at least a cup of coffee in the morning.” I replied with an embarrass laugh.

Suddenly, warm arms encircled me from behind. Without needing to turn around, I knew immediately that it was none other than Chase. He already feels so familiar to me that a mere touch is all that I need to identify him. I have realised that whenever I am in Chase’s presence, I would feel livelier and everything seemed brighter and hopeful to me. Holding my cup in front of me, I tried to hide my pleased smile. Mrs Silver must have been long around mated pairs that she did not even blink at his actions. Instead, she merely shoot me a knowing smile that set my face in a blaze.

“Morning, mum.” Chase greeted, his voice husky from sleep. My heart rate picked up speed. Chase nuzzled the back of my ear. “Morning, mate.” He whispered seductively to me. The hairs on my arms stood in attention as a delicious shiver stole down my spine. Chase chuckled knowingly.

“Not funny.” I gasped against the cup.

Giving the top of my head a light peek, he settled down beside me. Mrs Silver passed him a cup of coffee.

“Thanks, mum.” Chase said as he took the cup.

“Are you prepared for tomorrow's hunt?” I asked, trying to make small talk.

Chase turned to me. A very sly smile appeared on his face. Somehow, I knew that I am not going to like what he is going to say. He started leaning towards me. No liking this one bit, I leaned away from him. But his arm snaked out of nowhere and pulled me closer towards him such that we are face to face. This time, my heart was pounding so hard that I knew that my face have to be very red now.

“Are YOU prepared for tonight’s mating ceremony?”

I knew it! Even so, I couldn’t help opening and closing my mouth as I tried to rake my hormone fried brain for some snarky reply. He smiled a triumph smile and sat back, drinking his coffee as if nothing had just happened. I do not know whether to laugh or slap him. Hence, I settled on ignoring him.
