Dianna's POV

"Dianna?"

Oh God. She is Chase's mother! No! The black chest in my memory which I used to keep all my fears and my dark past rattled dangerously.

My heart beat rapidly and my breath came in short, sharp gasps. I knew distantly that I am hyperventilating. But right now, all that was in my mind was that Chase will never be mine again.

Tears welled up in my eyes and I dashed off. I ran blindly out of the restaurant. I could hear Chase yelling for me but I chose to ignore it. Once he knows everything, he will hate me. He will never forgive me.

I am all alone again.

Chase's POV

I could tell that Dianna was panicking. Her breathing was short and shallow and I could smell the foul smell of fear coming from her.

Feeling concern and worried, I was about to ask her what is wrong when she shove me aside and dashes off.

"Dianna! Dianna!" I yelled.

I was about to chase after her when my mum ordered me to stop in her alpha tone. I froze. I could have easily broke free of her command but what made me froze in confusion was the expression on her face.

Pain. Anger. Sadness.

"Why? What is wrong?" I whispered.

"Let her go and calm down." Mum said gently. "Come in and I will tell you. She is probably shock to see me here."

"Did you hurt her before? Is that why she is so afraid to see you?" I yelled.

"Son! You will not use that tone with your mother!"

"I will use whatever tone I want!" I yelled back in anger. Immediately I felt ashamed. My mum is the gentlest woman I have ever known. She can't possibly hurt Dianna.

"Don't make me hurt you!" My father snarled dangerously.

"No. I am sorry. I should have controlled my temper. I did not mean to yell at you mum." I looked at my mum apologetically.

Mum's face softened. "I know. It's alright. I understand why you are so mad."

"Even if you are mad, you should not have yelled at your mother." Father grumbled under his breath.

If I had not been so worried about my mate, I would have rolled my eyes. It is so hard to believe that a close to two century man like him could be so childish. Mum was not so reserved. She rolled her eyes and patted his cheek as a mother would do to her naughty child. Usually, father would have lashed out at anyone, including his baby sister, who has the guts to do that. But mum was a different story. Most werewolves would have found their mates during their first century. Father only met mother when he was in his mid-second centuries. He had almost given up all hope of finding a mate when mum appeared and brightened up his life. All his pack member have also given up hope of their alpha finding his female alpha as well. However, they have given up hope not because they thought that he could not find his mate but because they did not believe any female would want a cold-blooded, harsh and frightening man as mate. All females within and outside the pack always stay well away from him. So when a shy and gentle mum turned out to his mate, all had believed that mum would run away from him in fear. Instead, mum had father twisted around her pinkie very firmly. With her love and gentleness, she managed to win the heart of the pack and got the members to open up and tell their trouble to her. She would then tell father of his pack's trouble and work together to solve the problem. Everyone in the pack still fears father respects father but all love mum deeply. She might not have been born an omega of the pack, but to many, she was the heart of the pack, the one who united the pack.
