Chase's POV

Dianna soft, even breathing could be heard in the silent forest. All creatures in the woods had heard Wolf's rage and pain earlier and had gone into hiding to avoid him. All was quiet except for the tweeting of the crickets.

Wolf had run until he was exhausted. But the pain would not go away. The thought of our mate being hurt, traumatised is fresh in our mind. Wolf had then tore and rip at anything in his path, hoping to vent out all his anger but it had not work.

That was until we stumbled across our mate's scent. Wolf froze, breathing in more deeply to make sure that it is truly the scent of our mate and not a fragment of our imagination. It was indeed our mate's scent. She must have run all the way to the woods to hide.

We followed her trail and found her huddling under a tree, crying. Our heart broke at the sight. Our mate should never have cried. We should be the one who would make her life happier and free of all the fear she had felt all past years. We have failed.

Whining softly, desperately wanting to just be near our mate and drown in her warm, we stepped forward.

Fear radiated from her. We froze. We do not want our mate to be afraid of us. She closed her eyes as if accepting death. We whined, wanting to tell her that we are not going to harm her but unable to do so as we are in wolf form and is unable to talk.

She opened her eyes to regard us warily. We took a cautious step forward, not wanting to frighten her. She closed her eyes again. Wolf wanted to growl in frustration. We do not want to eat her up! She is acting like we are her death.

Lick her face, I thought to Wolf. Wolf did as he was told. Dianna opened her eyes, shocked from out action. Wolf wagged his tail happily. Our mate do not smell of fear anymore. Dianna then hugged us and cried herself to sleep.

Standing here with our mate, we wanted to savour this feeling. But I was afraid that Dianna would catch a cold if we stay here. Wolf resisted at first. But when I thought to him about not being able to see our mate because she is sick, he surrendered.

Very slowly, we ease ourselves away from her. Dianna continued to sleep. She must have been too tired from all the crying. Wolf and I are determined to find out what is wrong. We do not want our mate to be sad forever.

Shifting back to my human form, I know that I was naked. Calling out the moon magic, I clothed myself with a pair of jeans. Walking up to a sleeping Dianna, I gently carried her up. She barely stirred.

Walking softly, I carried my mate out of the woods. Unfortunately, her house is quite far away from here. I do not want her to catch a cold so I hailed a cab.

When I reached her home, a very worried Margie opened the door. I could see that she was concern for Dianna but chose not to ask. I walked up the stairs to Dianna's room.

Very gently, I lowered her onto her bed. Wanting to be with her, I slipped under the blanket and hugged her from behind. I slept soundly that night.

~~~~~~ Dianna's POV
The sunlight was shining into my closed eyes. Yawning widely, I opened my eyes. I had the best sleep I ever had. In my dreamless state, I had felt love and warm. Very unlike all the sleeps I have been having for the past three years.
