Ch.3: An Old Friend

I wake up from my nap and see that I have 2 new texts from Jill.

Jill: I talked to the girls. They wanna talk to you and apologize.
Jill: team dinner is at 5. Don't be late.

I swipe up out of the conversation and turn my phone off. I look at my alarm clock.

4:55 pm

I get up. I quickly change, I grab my phone and key card. I put in my shoes and leave my room going down to the conference room for dinner.

I walk in, I stand there for a second looking around I see where the food is and I walk over to it.

I grab all the food I was going to eat. I grab my silverware and sit down at a random table. Tobin, Alex, Christen, Abby, Kelly, Hope, Carli, Ash and Ali come over to my table and stand there.

"Can we sit with you?" Carli asks

"Of course." I say.

They sit down. Tobin and Alex sit across from me. "Hey about earlier. I wanted to apologize, I didn't mean to come off as harsh." Tobin says. The other girls apologize to.

"It's okay guys I forgive you. I'm sorry too, I shouldn't have reacted the way I did." I say.

"It's okay. We were all in the wrong." Tobin says.

My phone starts ringing. I excuse myself, I leave the room to take the call.

"Hello?"

"Hey baby girl." My mom says.

I smile. "Hallo Mami" (hi mom)

I go into the conference room while still on the call and Sit back down at my table. Everyone looked over at me in shock cause I was speaking in German.

"Wie ist es dir gegangen?" She asks. (How have you been?)

"ich war gut. wie ist es mit dir und Papa? Wie ist die Arbeit?" (i've been good. how about you and dad? how's work going?)

"funktioniert gut, war sehr beschäftigt. Ich habe gehört, dass du immer noch Fußball machst. wie geht das?" (works been good, been really busy. i heard your still doing soccer. hows that going?" ) she says.

"Fußball läuft wirklich gut. Erinnerst du dich, wie der Scout zu meinem letzten Highschool-Spiel kam? Nun, sie ist Cheftrainerin der professionellen uswnt-Fußballmannschaft. sie sprach mit mir und lud mich zu ihrem bext camp ein. Ich bin gerade im Camp, es ist ein 2 Wochen langes Camp." (soccer has been going really good. you remember how the scout came to my last highschool game? well she's a head coach for the professional uswnt soccer team. she talked to me and invited me to their next camp. I'm at the camp right now its a 2 week long camp.)

"Oh mein Gott!! Ich freue mich so für dich Baby!!" (oh my god!! I'm so happy for you baby!!") she says.

I laugh. "danke Mutti. Ich vermisse euch so sehr, dass es schwer war, ohne dass ihr hier wart." (thanks mom. i miss you guys so much its been hard without you guys being here.)

"wir lieben dich und vermissen dich so sehr Gwen." (we love you and miss you so much Gwen)

"w-wann kommst du wieder nach Hause?" (w-when are you guys coming back home?)

"hoffentlich bald. Hey, ich muss gehen, ich und dein Vater lieben dich. wir sprechen später mit dir Fußballstar." (soon hopefully. hey i got to go, me and your father love you. we'll talk to you later soccer star.)

I hang up and sigh. I put my phone back into my pocket, I look up at the girls. "Sorry about that guys." I start digging into my food.

Ali taps my foot. "waren das deine eltern? Wo sind sie?"
