Tomorrow.
Tomorrow was day that Nayeon was waiting for. The day she was so excited for. The day she couldn't wait to get here.
She paced around her room, thinking about all of the things she was gonna say when she got up on that stage. Acknowledgments, compliments, and more.
She had repeatedly grabbed two certain articles of clothing and tried them on, making sure they were perfect. Those items were her cap and gown.
Yes, you heard correctly. Tomorrow was graduation day.
All day, Nayeon's family thought that she was overreacting about this event. Every time she would go and rant about it, her family would cut her off, telling her that it was "just a graduation".
However, to Nayeon, it wasn't just graduation.
There was something about this graduation that made it extremely special, even for her. That something special was NOT the fact that it was her senior year, and it was her last grade school graduation ever.
Wanna know the real deal? Here it is:
This would be the first ever grade that Nayeon would finally be passing with straight A's.
See, here's the thing: Nayeon was always a good student, and she never got into any type of trouble. People would've also thought that Nayeon was on the honor roll too!
Well, she almost was. Unfortunately for her, math was that one subject that brought her and her GPA down. There were just many different concepts she was never able to grasp, and as a result, she was always unable to make a grade higher than a D. This was her nightmare turned reality ever since Nayeon started middle school.
Until now.
For her senior year, Nayeon was taking calculus class as a math subject, which she knew was already gonna be hard enough. To her dismay, she had a teacher that made everything even harder, and that was Ms. Yoo.
Ms. Yoo was known for her assertive, strict teaching methods, and her no-nonsense personality. For this, she was respected, but feared by many students. She would call on her students randomly, especially if you weren't paying attention, and this was definitely something Nayeon fell victim to.
Almost every day, Nayeon would get pulled aside after class by her teacher. There, Ms. Yoo would express her concern for Nayeon's grades and behavior scores. Nayeon would always try to defend herself, saying that she's just not naturally good at math, but Ms. Yoo would always tell her the same thing:
"Just apply yourself and keep trying. Math is not impossible. Also, stop acting up in my class. This is a calculus class, not the courtyard."
Nayeon would always sigh in defeat. Math wasn't impossible, but to her, it was.
Fast-forward to May. The month of final exams and projects. Nayeon was once again at Ms. Yoo's desk after class, getting another talk. When she suddenly bought up final exams, Nayeon saw this as the perfect opportunity to try and score some extra credit.
