"What are you doing here? What do you want?"

You stood up from your spot quickly, staring down the girl across from you. Hermione stood just a few feet away, the closest she had been to you in a long time. You couldn't lie and say that the close proximity didn't make your heart race. It was a familiar feeling when it came to her after all, though you weren't sure if it was a welcomed one anymore.

"I need to talk to you, please. I know you must not want to talk to me but-"

"Of course I don't want to talk to you," you interrupted the girls desperate plea. You grabbed your bag from your seat, giving the girl one last glare before attempting to make your way past her.

"Please just let me talk," she pleaded again, attempting to make you stay by taking a hold of your hand as you attempted to walk past her.

"No, don't touch me. I don't want to talk."

"Well I need to talk to you. There are things that I need to explain to you. Things that have happened."

You sighed in frustration as you attempted to move past her again, only to have Hermione step in front of you and blocking your path.

"Move, Hermione. Please."

"No, we need to talk," she said firmly, not budging one bit.

"Fine. You want to talk? Then let's talk, I'll go first," you spoke angrily, finally giving up on getting away.

"You broke my heart. I know I was the one who agreed to that idiotic plan of yours but that was only because I was in love with you. I would have done anything you asked me to. And you may not have known that in the beginning but you must have realized it at some point. You're the smartest person I know, Hermione. You must have known."

It was silent after you spoke. You could feel the tears threatening to fall but you couldn't let her, or anyone for that matter see you cry. She looked speechless as she stood in front of you, and you could see her own tears threatening to fall. You wanted to leave this conversation behind badly, and to your luck someone arrived who could make that happen.

"Oh, Y/N. Is that you? I've been looking everywhere for you," a familiar, and perky voice spoke up from behind Hermione.

"Hello, Lavender," you spoke shakily, quickly trying to compose yourself as the girl walked closer.

"Oh, hello Hermione," she greeted the girl in front of you, with a slightly annoyed look on her face.

"Lavender."

"Y/N I was wondering if you wanted to spend some time together today."

"Actually, Y/N and I were in the middle of a conversation," Hermione quickly spoke up.

"No, actually we were already done here. I have some free time, Lavender."

With a smug smirk towards Hermione, Lavender quickly linked your arm with hers and began dragging you away. The both of you ignoring the call of your name behind you.

The door shut behind you before Lavender quickly led you over to her bed, the both of you taking a seat on the soft mattress.

"So, anything you wanted to specifically," you asked looking around the room.

"No, nothing. The girls won't be back for a few hours though," she responded. Giving a hum in response you looked around the room for something to do, before spotting a chess set at the corner of the room.

"Oh, there's a chess set there. Maybe we could have a game, I'm actually pretty good myself-"

Your words were interrupted as a body was thrown at yours, lips crashing roughly onto yours. You were shocked to say the least. But that shock quickly subsided, and you pushed the girl away.

"Oh, I'm so sorry," Lavender quickly apologized after seeing your reaction. "I just thought that, we're both not seeing anyone, and we get on so well. Oh, merlin, I'm so sorry."

"No, you don't have to apologize. It's not you or anything. I'm just not ready to start a relationship with anyone, that's all."

She nodded, looking down as she spoke again. "Oh, Merlin I'm just not good with dating. First there was Ron, and now you. It feels like I'll never get it right."

"Lavender you're a great girl. And there is someone out there who's perfect for you, I know it. It's just not me, and it's definitely not Ron Weasley."

She nodded as you gave her a quick hug, and you stood up with a sigh.

"Well, I'm going to head back to my own room. I'll see you later."

With that, you walked over to the door. Only to stop once a thought came to your mind.

"Parvati," you said, Lavender quickly looked up confused. "I've always noticed something between the two of you. Something different, something more than friendship. Just don't rush into anything. Okay?"

With a nod your way, you sent a smile back to her and finally left the room.

The next day was like any other day, only this time you spent the majority of it trying to avoid Hermione. She was desperate to talk to you again after not being able to speak herself during your interaction. And to your luck, she could never seem to get a hold of you.

But unfortunately for you, your luck always seems to run out. And on you way to dinner, the one time you had been alone that day, she had finally caught up to you.

Though this interaction began the exact same way the last one did. And instead of trying to ease into what she had to say like the first time, Hermione decided to just say it.

So during your attempt to leave, Hermione finally said what she had been trying to tell you.

"Ron slipped me a love potion!"
