Minnie glanced over at Miyeon, who was curled comfortably on the couch in her office, sipping a glass of water and absentmindedly rubbing her growing belly. The atmosphere had softened between them since their arrival—no longer tense, but quietly fragile.

"Can I ask you something?" Minnie’s voice was hesitant, her fingers fiddling with a pen she had no intention of using.

Miyeon looked up, her eyes curious. “Of course.”

“Do you... know the baby’s gender?”

A small, knowing smile tugged at Miyeon’s lips. “Yeah,” she said softly. “I found out a few weeks ago.”

Minnie leaned forward, anticipation flickering across her face. “And?”

Miyeon’s voice was barely above a whisper. “It’s a girl.”

Minnie froze. Her heart did a strange flutter in her chest. “A girl?” she repeated, as if needing to hear it again to believe it.

Miyeon nodded. “Surprised?”

A faint laugh escaped from Minnie, almost like disbelief. “I always told myself... if I ever became a parent—which I didn’t think would happen this way—I’d want a daughter. Someone I could raise to be kind and strong and maybe... maybe a little rebellious.”

Miyeon chuckled. “Well, you might just get your wish.”

For a few minutes, they sat in a strange but comforting quiet, the weight of their situation lingering, but so did the warmth—the growing sense that maybe, just maybe, this wasn’t a disaster, but something beginning.

Until the door slammed open.

"MinMin!" came an all-too-familiar voice that made Minnie immediately tense.

Shuhua.

Shuhua, with her signature red lipstick and expensive heels, stood in the doorway with all the entitlement of someone who refused to believe 'no' was a complete sentence. Her eyes quickly scanned the room—and locked onto Miyeon.

"Who’s this?" Shuhua asked with narrowed eyes, stepping fully into the room. “Another client? Or are we playing house now?”

Miyeon stood, a hand protectively brushing her bump. She was about to answer when Minnie quickly stepped between them.

“She’s the mother of my child,” Minnie said firmly, her voice low and steady. “Soon to be.”

Shuhua blinked. “Excuse me?”

“You heard me.”

There was a beat of silence before Shuhua laughed. “That’s rich, Minnie. You seriously expect me to believe that? You’re using some random woman to push me away again?”

Miyeon’s jaw tightened, but she didn’t speak. She didn’t need to.

“She’s not random,” Minnie said, her tone suddenly sharper. “And I’m not lying to you, Shuhua. I’ve told you again and again—I’m not interested in anything with you. Not now, not ever.”

“But we’ve had—”

“Whatever you think we had, it’s done. If it was ever real to begin with,” Minnie cut in. “This isn’t about you anymore. This is about her—Miyeon. And the baby.”

Shuhua’s face twisted, a mixture of disbelief and humiliation swimming in her eyes. “You’re really choosing her over me?”

“I’m not choosing between you,” Minnie said coldly. “I never chose you to begin with.”
