"You know how I told you my mom and brother died?" I ask, my face still planted firmly against his chest after his confession. He stiffens a bit in suprise but nods, "Yeah, you told me they died in a fire."
My heart beats, "My dad started the fire." I finally admit for the first time since the accident. I never told anyone what my dad did, Loki's the first. "He started the fire knowing that they wouldn't be able to escape." I explain, taking a deep breath, "I think I was supposed to die with them but my mom made sure I got out." I whisper, remembering how scared I was, how scared she was but she made sure I got to live despite her fear.
"He...he did it on purpose?" He asks, hoarsely.
I nod my head, "Yeah," Swallowing thickly, I continue, "He told me things like that happen when women don't know their place and I had instantly knew he was the one who caused the fire." My fingers toy with his shirt, "I remember yelling at him to let me go so I can try and help, I begged him to go and save her but he didn't listen to me. He held me still so I can hear them cry for help." Loki's grip on me tightens, "I heard her begging someone to save Amir, Loki. I could hear how much pain she was in but she kept begging and begging for Amir." I shudder at the memory but as much as I hated talking about it, I needed too.
"And...and..." I stutter, "And Amir? He was still just a boy. I heard him screaming in pain," My throat locks up as I remember, "I could hear how scared he was."
Loki pulls back to look down at me, his features pulled tight when he sees me trying to hold back tears. "You can cry." He whispers, "It's okay."
"I'm tired of crying." I shake my head, blinking them back.
He's quiet for a moment as he watches me, "Do you maybe want to go visit them?"
My heart skips, "You mean...? Visit their graves?" I breathe, chest racing because I hadn't visited them since the funeral. I was to scared to go alone, to scared to face reality.
He dips his head closer to mine, "Yeah. I'll go with you." Kissing my forehead when he catches my anxious expression.
"You will? Really?" My voice cracks and so does his face when he realizes how hard this is for me. "Right now?"
He gives me a weak smile, "Whatever you want but yeah we can go now, I feel like visiting them will help you. It'll give you a chance to give yourself closure, or we can just sit in silence when we get there." He caresses my cheek with gentleness, "But we don't have too," He whispers, "I just want you to know that I'll be by your side."
"I love you." I murmur, quietly.
Loki's eyes soften, "I love you." He breathes, resting his forehead against mine, "So much." He tells me, bringing my hands up to rest on the center of where his heart beats. "I love everything about you." His heart races, "Your smile. Your frown, even if it breaks my heart. I love those beautiful brown eyes that look at me with such love. I love your cute little nose." He smiles, kissing my nose for show. "Your lips? Definitely one of my favorites." And then he also plants his lips on mine, rewarding me with a deep kiss that leaves us both breathless.
