Kevin age: 12

Sarah age: 5

The two of them were out for a walk at a local park. It was a really nice warm day out. It had been raining all week, so when the sun came out Kevin decided to take advantage of it. Currently Sarah was running ahead of him. Not too far ahead of him of course. She was having fun jumping in puddles. She was so adorable. She was dressed in a pink rain coat and pink rain boots. It didn't look like it will rain again but better safe than sorry. He decided to take his phone out and take a video of her jumping around.

After 20 minuets of walking around Kevin heard a small meow coming from a bush. Kevin called Sarah over and shushed her when she came back giggling from having so much fun. Once she was quiet, they both heard a small meow. Kevin put his finger to his lips to let Sarah know to be quiet. They both walked over to where they heard the meow. The meow were now becoming louder and more frequent. When they moved the bush a bit, they found the cutest kitten.

The kitten looked like it was only 2 months old. Sarah immediately went to grab it. Kevin quickly pulled her hands back. "No! We don't just grab animals. We need to be careful. The kitten could scratch you or you could scare it away. Now stand back and I will try to hold it." Kevin bent down and held his hand out to the kitten. He stuck his hand out and had the kitten smell his hand. The kitten hesitantly walked up to Kevin and smelled his hand. Kevin cooed at it and after a few minutes he gently picked up the kitten. The kitten seemed to be fine with Kevin holding it. Kevin turned to Sarah and showed it to her.

"Now you can pet it but be careful. Pet the kitten like this." Kevin showed her how to pet the kitten. Sarah looked at the kitten like how Kevin looked at her sometimes, in absolute adoration. Sarah pets the kitten very gently. "Can I hold her? Is it a her or a him?" Sarah asked. "I am not sure what gender the kitten is. Yes, you can hold it but be super careful. I don't want you or it to get hurt." Kevin handed the kitten over to Sarah. Sarah held the kitten and was being super gentle with it. "Okay stay here. I am going to see if there are other kittens or the mom is around." Kevin looked around the other bushes and didn't see any other kittens or cats. He came back to Sarah and the kitten.

"I can't find other kittens or cats. I guess this one just wondered off or maybe it was abandoned." Kevin said. "CAN WE KEEP IT?" Sarah yelled. Kevin immediately shushed her and motioned to lower her voice. "Quiet voice. You don't want to hurt the kittens' ears." Kevin said. "Oh! Sorry kitty." Sarah whispered into the kitten ears. The kitten was now cuddled into Sarah and was purring. Kevin felt like his heart was going to explode from the cuteness. "We can ask our parents when we get home if we can keep it. Now come on we have been gone longer than I intended us to." Kevin went to grab Sarahs hand but both of her hands were occupied with holding and petting the kitten.

When they got home Sarah wanted to just take off for her dad but Kevin stopped her. "No muddy shoes or boots in the house. I will hold what did you name it?" Sarah smiled at him and handed Kevin the kitten. "Its name is Cuddles! Since the kitten likes to cuddle so much!" Sarah said while taking off her rain boots and jacket. "Now let's find dad! I hope we can keep Cuddles!" Before Kevin could say anything, Sarah took off. Kevin would have yelled out not to run but the kitten was asleep and he didn't want to wake it up.

Kevin found Sarah in the kitchen talking super-fast to her dad. Unfortunately, the second Kevin got remotely close to Charles (Sarahs dad) he started sneezing. "Oh no! Get that cat away from me! I am super allergic to cats! I get a rash, runny nose, my throat closes up and I can't breathe." Kevin left the kitchen right away but stayed close enough so he can hear what was being said but far enough so Charles allergies wouldn't act up.

"Oh, sweetie I know you want to keep the kitten but I am really allergic. I won't be able to live in the house with the kitten here. I have tried allergy medicine as a kid but none of it really worked." Charles could tell Sarah didn't fully understand and her eyes started to get teary. That she was about to cry. Charles kneeled down so he could be closer to her height. "Okay how to explain this better. Remember when you were really sick recently?" Charles asked Sarah.

She nodded her head. She didn't like being sick. She had a really bad cough and felt weak. "So, I would feel like how you felt but all the time. Possibly worse how you felt. I wouldn't be able to breath at all, I would have a rash that would be all gross and ugly. I am sorry darling but there is no way we can keep the kitten." Sarah was sad but she understood for the most part. She didn't want her dad to be sick all the time. "I understand. What can we do about Cuddles? We found it in the bushes! We can't return it to the bushes!" Sarah asked worried about the kitty. "We will take it to the animal shelter. They can find someone to give it a good home. Well, when I saw we I mean your mom, you and Kevin." Charles said.

A few hours later Kevin, Sarah and Lucy (The mom) were on their way to the local animal shelter. Neither Kevin or Sarah wanted to give the kitten up. They understood why they had to but it still sucked. Kevin mainly wanted the kitten for Sarah. He could tell that Sarah truly loved the kitten already. When they got to the shelter Lucy went up to the desk and explained why they were there. Sarah reluctantly gave the kitten to the shelter worker.

On the way home Kevin held Sarah as she cried. While she understood that the kitten made her dad sick, she was still heartbroken. Kevin hugged her close to him and just let her cry her heart out. By the time they got home Sarah had fallen asleep against Kevin. He didn't want to wake her up so he carried her to her bedroom. He changed her out of her clothes and into a pair of PJs. Kevin knew their clothes had to be washed right away. He didn't want to risk Charles allergies to act up due to the cat hair on their clothes.

After he changed his clothes, he threw his and Sarahs clothes in the wash. He went to find Charles. "I was wondering since we can't have a kitten if we could get Sarah a stuffed animal kitten. That way she can still have a kitten, but your allergies don't act up." Kevin asked Charles when he found him in the living room. "Thats a great idea! Maybe we can find one that looks like the kitten you found." Charles said. Charles quickly went and grabbed his laptop from his office. He and Kevin looked online at different websites till they found the perfect stuffed animal kitten. "She is going to love this!" Kevin said.

Thank you for reading! Please leave a vote/comment!

So, I wrote this while I tried to figure out the next part of the story. I believe I have figured it out and hope to have the next chapter out by next week if not sooner. I can't write small little things segments. I had every intention of writing a few small segments of Kevin and Sarahs past. I know a few of you amazing people commented on what you wanted to see in a filler chapter. I figured whenever I am having writers block, I will write a filler chapter. It defiantly helped me out with my writer's block. So, I will get to the other filler chapters that people commented on, but I am not sure when. I hope you all have an amazing day!
