“I just want someone to light one of my cigarettes for me.” Oleander said sitting next to her open bedroom window while fiddling with her cigarette case.

Valerie leaned towards her and flicked a lighter aflame, Oleander shook her head and let her light the cigarette.

“That isn’t what I meant, it’s not the same. I want a lover of mine to light my cigarettes. It’s rather poetic, because they are actively killing me by doing so and I imagine that true heartbreak would certainly kill me.” Oleander explained.

“Are you still fucking high?” Rebecca asked.

Oleander barked a laugh and rolled her eyes, she was about to suggest that they smoke more weed but Trina spoke first asking

“How are we going to do this?”

“Do what?” responded Valerie.

“The party obviously. I say we just tell everyone and ask my brother to supply the weed and the booze.” Said Rebecca.

“I think she meant the monster thing but yeah party plans sound good, You guys are gonna have to cat in the hat it afterwards though and fucking help clean up.” added Oleander.

“I did mean the monster thing.” Trina mumbled.

“Whatevs, we’ll like exorcise it but on sunday. Friday is party day, saturday we’ll have a kickback, sunday we will clean and exorcise this demon.”

“No bitch, didn’t you watch charmed? You vanquish demons.” Oleander said.

Trina just sighed so lightly that it was almost silently. She was irritated by how her friends were acting, this was a serious matter. They were going to need help, but there was no one she could think of, sans fictional characters, who were even close to being qualified enough to aid them. Trina was fairly certain that she and her friends were screwed, she was mad at herself for getting involved in what was sure to be a major mess, and at Oleander for not properly warning them. She shook her head to try and shake her negative thoughts, they probably would not have taken Ole seriously had she attempted to warn them.  She was going to go to the Library and research their situation, she didn’t want anyone to die and she knew that her small group of friends would be depleted quickly if someone didn't start to take things at least a little seriously.

She said goodbye and wanted to ignored them when they called her a Velma, but she couldn’t help but mutter a “Fuck Daphne.” under her breath.

Shortly after Trina left the others said goodbye as well, they had homework to do that they had put off due to this school week beginning on Tuesday. Oleander decided that she could not be bothered with doing her mathematics assignment and vowed to copy Valerie before fourth period. She lay on her bed under her blankets, face down  and still in her undergarment pajamas, she was not as careful as the previous night and let her hand dangle off the edge of her bed, in the space where mattress did not meet headrest. She wanted to take a nap as she hadn’t had the best rest the night before. She wasn’t fully asleep when she began to feel it, she assumed it was part of her dream, she thought could feel a hand tightly clasped in hers. She tried to move but couldn’t so she gave into slumber, not realizing that it was Trent reaching up from under her bed to hold her hand.
