Chapter Twenty-seven

Last time on DarkHearts: "I was telling Mal that without the second component I can't reverse the control."

"What component does she have?" Carlos asked,"

Uma copied Ryder's soft blue glow and opened it, "It's the blue one I'm not sure what it is."

Jane grinned, "Carlos has the other one, in his locket" she said remembering the day she got controlled. "And it had the same Aura."

"That means it was created by Ryder too, Meaning," Uma touched it and unlocked it. "We can break the control."

Like clockwork Evie got started on a counter for the body Control, but it would take a week or two before it was done Leaving the rest to figure out how to get Ryder free.

Right now, 'the rest' consisted of Jay, Mal, Uma and Ben. Jay had made his way to Auradon and bounded into Mal's room giggling, "I got it I got it."

"How is Hells Halls did you get to the Corona vaults."

"I didn't Ella did, she was taking out a bunch of Andreana's work."

Mal and Uma looked at each other in shock, "That would pretty much confirm that she's using Andreana's magic." Mal spoke.

Uma Picked up the book that Jay brought, which was Andreana's personal spell book and Journal, "Whoa this is some seriously dark magic. The Only spell she ever used that fits the bill here looking for is the 'Mind Mangle' we were right on the mark." she flipped through the centuries old notes. "Here, 'it is in my discoveries that the 'Mind Mangle' is one of my most dangerous and powerful spells. There is no set way to undo the spell, the only consistent theme is that it takes three items that have magical essence and an injection, but it requires talking to the victim to acquire which items. It's nearly impossible to get through to whom they used to be, but it seems they can be reached though powerful memories or recreating familial moments whether they were involved or not as long as it had a significant impact on them. Note to self: Do Not Release Lowell, his animals are more powerful under your control IF HE IS RELEASED, THEY WILL OBEY HIS ORDERS AND END YOUR RAINE.'"

Mal nodded taking in the information, "Ryder doesn't have many childhood emotions and even if he did-"

"Ella's holding them hostage." Jay finished, "Okay then A familial moment, and I can think of one more important than anything else."

"Ella, Love." The blond who was carving a protection Sigel on a candle looked up from her ruins book and to her boyfriend.

A small smile graced her lips and her face lit up with happiness. It was moments like this that reminded Jay why he did all this and that underneath all of the harm and dark magic she still loved him. She hopped up and to him. She hugged him tight, her arms lacing her fingers behind his neck, "We haven't been spending much time together, what have you been doing?" She pushed him down into a chair and sat sideways on his lap. She wasn't spelling him at all, she was just talking to him. She just wanted to spend time with her boyfriend.

He placed one hand on her thigh and the other on the back of her neck as she cuddled into his neck. "I know I'm sorry, nightlight. I was with Mal and Uma. Ryder's birthday is coming up and they wanted to do something for him."

She looked up and smiled at the mention of her baby brother's 16th birthday, "What did they want to do for him?"

"Uma thought it would be a great idea to release the lanterns since it's your family tradition."
