Chapter Twenty-One

Evie Kicked her legs back and forth on the desk as she watched Aaron Place both Lonnie and Doug under selective Body control. "I don't see the point of this." Lonnie growled. "You took us all down easily, why do you need to do this?"

"When we are awake, we're formidable but you will be here even when we are weak. No need for you to try to murder me in my sleep." He smirked getting in her face.

"Don't Tempt me." She sneered back.

"Try it warrior."

Doug was uncomfortable; he had no clue why Evie had dragged him out of all the people here. Not to mention that Aaron clearly didn't want him near her.

Aaron was unlike Ryder and Jazzy in many ways. He was clearly very infatuated with Evie. Not in Love, Jay was in love with Ella, Ella was in love with Jay. Uma and Ryder were in love. Aaron was just infatuated; he wanted all her attention on him, but he knew Ellas rules. That couldn't happen, they needed to be preoccupied. He would shower her with expenses, gifts and Jewelry in the months to come to keep her under his thumb.

None of this would stop her absolute fear of Aaron. Evie loved the attention, but he scared the heck out of her. Aaron has yelled at her and has hurt her, whether he knew it or not.

"Are you Happy, my love?" He asked the bluenette who was preoccupied with a cupcake. She looked up licking the frosting off her lips and nodded with a smile. Aaron liked when she was simple and agreeable. He kissed her temple, pulled off her crown and pushed Doug towards her.

She giggled, pulling him out of the room. As soon as they were far enough, she stopped giggling and her face fell. Doug couldn't take the silence, "I'm sorry."

She whipped around confused, "what are you sorry for?"

"Not standing up for you on family day. I should have, instead I was too scared of Chad to do anything."

Evie sighed, "after all this I think I should apologize to you. I basically kidnapped you and forced you away from your family." She looked down, tears glistening in her eyes.

He looked over and made a brave yet stupid move. He pulled them to a stop and picked up her chin and turned her face towards him. "Hey, I don't blame you. If anything, I blame Aaron, Ryder, Jazzy and Ella. The four of you didn't look to happy on coronation day."

"I should be though. This is everything I should ever want," She said walking again, "My mother said all I needed to be happy was a prince, a crown, and beauty. I have all of that now, heck I have a king, but I'm not happy."

"You're not confident or satisfied and you can't really be happy without that. I see the way you let Aaron control you. You're so smart and strong but with him you're so compliant. You Deserve happiness just as much as him, Evie."

She rings her hands together, "I just feel like somethings wrong; it seems like things got worse as we got older. Something feels off, I just can't Explain it. And I wouldn't be too hard on them, you would be angry too if your entire existence and purpose was erased and replaced with a tale of evil and pain. Adam and Belle painted them like the villains when they were just little kids."

Doug had to admit that what Adam and Belle did was cruel and unusual, and he knew that technically they only took one kingdom the others were theirs to begin with, the thrones were even offered to them by their parents. What Doug couldn't get over was the cruel treatment of the others that tried to help and be their friends.

"Ella was hurt most of all." Evie said sadly. "She was five, she remembers everything and so much of her life has been surrounded by the selfishness and vanity she was taught by Gothel and the need to rule she was taught by Hans."
