Chapter Thirty-three

Mal's Recap: "okay so it's been a crazy few days, we finally got Ryder out of his mind mangle and he's a lot more chill then i expected, but now Ella's coming to see him and it's time for us all to put on one heck of an act. And honestly, I'm terrified Ella is Ryders big sister and he's not sued to lying to her. If we mess up its game over."

Ryder was still in his Pajamas as he had to jump back into bed the moment Ella came over. He was going over the plan as he saw the car pull up and his sister step out with Jay in tow. He hid behind the wall as she looked into the office window and met Mal's eye. She closed the curtains and walked out to meet her, "Mal there's one more thing."

"It's gonna have to wait." She told him seriously. "Get to your room and pretend to be sick."

"But Mal, your crown, -"

"I'll straighten it, just go." She shoved him into his room and kept walking.

He slowly walks to his bed and whispers to himself, "please don't tick her off please don't tick her off."

Mal Met Ella and Jay at the door smiling brightly, her crown on display gleaming with a danger only Ella could see that the moment. "Hey Ella."

"Hey Mal," She smiles, giving the fairy a hug, "What's with the blue." She asked, picking up a strand of the usually purple hair.

Mal ran her hand through her short strands "Oh, um, I got mad a few days ago and my hair lit on fire again but this time the fire was blue, and it changed my hair color."

"You should call Hades." Jay looked at his girlfriend confused, "Her father." She shrugged walking into the castle

Jay whisper shouted at Mal as they walked in, "Hades is your father!?" she nodded tensely. "You could take down Ella if you wanted to."

She shushed him quietly making sure the dark queen didn't hear them, "No I couldn't, I've spoken to him once, I don't know how to control the powers I apparently have from him, and frankly I don't like him very much," she said crossing her arms.

Jay jumped back a bit, "Your hair is smoking"

She looked up and groaned, "really." she patted the smoke trying to make it go out. "See."

They got to Ryder's room where he was stuffily talking with Ben and Uma. "Hey Ry Ry." Ella said walking in and sitting on the side of his bed next to him. "How ya feeling." She placed a hand on his head trying to feel if he had a fever.

"Much better than yesterday," He assured her.

"That's good, who was here with you?"

"Uma" he told her, "Mal was-"

"Mal wasn't here with you?"

Mal tensed, Jay made a move to grab her hand.

Ryder caught himself before he could flinch, "No she was-"

"It doesn't matter what she was doing, she should have been here. How many times do I have to make it clear?" She pinched the bridge of her nose and glared at Uma then back at Mal, "Mal is your Queen and Uma is your toy." Uma flinched.

"I was catching up on the work that was falling behind because Ryder couldn't get out of bed." Mal said quickly. She didn't understand why Ella was so dead set on her being at Ryder's side if he was sick. "I came in and checked up on him I just wasn't-"

Ella stood, "My baby brother should be your utmost priority. The work could have waited, and I don't mind Uma here as long as you tend to your duties." She stepped up to mal, "I think you need to be reminded who you swore loyalty to and who holds your leash."
