"Oh my god, you mean we are going together?" Eloise shrieked.
"Holy mother of malnutrioned cows, how many times do I need to say yes?" I shout back, trying to concentrate on my work.
"I'm going to faint with joy," she declares, plopping herself down beside me.
Its a Wednesday afternoon, and we are sitting here in Times Square, admiring the way the whole city has taken it upon themselves to look like a pumpkin flavoured cake this Halloween, which happens to be on Friday.
Eloise took the time off from the hospital as she didn't have much patients signed up for the day and arrived at my office to drag me out with her on the excuse 'we don't have anything to wear except dishwashers for the masquerade on Friday'. Since she got to know that we were going to the same ball as her on Halloween, she had been asking me for a confirmation almost every day. Having once diagnosed Mr.Lopez, Daniel's father, she was invited too and I have a feeling she's more excited at the prospect of meeting Abir than actually accompanying me.
What days have come, oh heavenly father?
Women value their crushes more than their best friends? How? How is this even possible?...
Fine, I'll stop my soap opera.
"What costume are you going to wear?" she asks, poking my palm, which was resting on the table beside my notebook.
"I thought I came here so that I could concentrate on what I'm trying to write and here we are," I chuckle, closing my notebook shut.
"I'm inspired from you, you've no idea how irritating you can be most of the time," Eloise replies, giving me a toothy grin.
"As for your question, I explained I'm going there for work, I can't really disguise myself as the IceCream Truck Clown."
"The ice cream truck guy was something, I still remember Mr.Albert telling us how the man was actually an disguised evil clown who would slap us and kidnap us if we went anywhere near the van," Eloise recollects, rolling her eyes at the memory.
I laugh,"However, a black dress and appropriate makeup might add up to the looks of a hot witch."
"That's such a good idea, Clove! Now we know what to buy for you," Eloise says, nearly jumping out of her seat.
I swear she's on a sugar rush.
"What about you?" I ask, as our coffees arrive and I smile at the waitress, helping her with the sugar cubes.
"I want to dress up as something wicked but I'm out of brilliant ideas," she replies, pouting.
"Wicked and you don't go together, I've a different plan for you," I state, a smile surfacing on my face.
