mistakes

the next day at school I see sam walking into the building. this is my perfect chance to get closer with them. as um running up to them I get stopped my serenity. she wraps her arms around my waist and pulls me in. i wrap my arm around her neck as she pulls me closer until our lips connect.
"so do you wanna hang out maybe?" Serenity asks
"Of course! When and where?" I ask back
"Well since it's Wednesday and it's almost the weekend I was thinking we could go to my parents beach house not to far from here" she says
"oh! that sounds super fun I love that idea" i say
"I'm glad! would you like me to walk with you to your locker then to class" she asks
"oh no it's fine. see you soon love you!" I say before giving her a kiss and walking off"
ugh dang it! now I can't find sam. that sucks. maybe I'll go to that empty classroom and read since it's been a while. I haven't gone there in ages and I did get here a bit early so why not. once I get to the classroom I open the door to see Sam also there reading.
"oh hi! I didn't expect to see you here"
"yea me neither haha" they says before blushing
"what are you reading?" I ask while walking over and and taking a seat next to them
"From A Distance by R.M what about you?" they asks
"OMG I LOVE THAT AUTHOR" I yell out of excitement
I quickly cover my mouth realizing what I just done.
Sam lets out a genuine laugh that made me blush a bit just by looking at there smile.
"looks like someone finally broke out their shell" I chuckle.
"whatever." they say while putting their things away
"oh yea!! the bell crap I forgot!! and I'm not gonna have time to go to my locker and get my history book" I say
sam hands home their history book and walks out before I even have the time to thank them. well I better hurry. I get to the class and see serenity there waiting for me with a empty seat next to her. I give her a friendly smile and walk over to the seat next to her.
"ok class today we're gonna do things a bit different. I want you all to answer the questions on the board in your textbooks and then after 10 minutes swap textbooks with the person next to you then grade there answers"
oh ok this should be easy as I open the book I see a note in it.
"hey, thanks for everything and being my friend despite the rumors you heard. I gotta tell you something so if you don't mind meet me in the bathroom at 10:00"
ugh it's only 8:55 which means I have to wait a whole two hours before I can even go talk to them .
I put the note and my pocket and start writing down the questions
"hey what's that?" serenity asks
"oh it's nothing" I say

10 mins pass

"ok everyone time to switch"
I switch textbooks with serenity and start grading her questions. she did pretty good except for two questions.
"hey jade why do you have sam's textbook" serenity asks me
"oh they let me barrow there's because i was running late and didn't have time to get mine from my locker" I say
"well why didn't you just ask me for mine" she asks
"looks like someone jealous" I giggle
"Whatever"
after it felt like eternity it finally hit 9:58
"excuse me can I go to the bathroom?" I ask
"yea ofc jade go right along"
I stand up and head to the bathroom once I get there  sam's already there waiting for me
"So uh what up?"
"well uhm idk if you heard but I just wanna clarify some stuff to you" they say
"oh ok" I say gets a bit closer to them
"so you see i know you probably heard about the whole assault thing and that people think I lied but I swear I didn't"
"i know that and I don't think anyone especially you would lie about something like that and I think everyone's just sickos who wanna make everything about them. I totally believe you sam"
"thank you so much" they say
"it's no problem" I say
"oh also I go by they/them pronouns so please respect them"
"of course" I say
"oh and one more thing...will you uhh be my friend"
omg there really asking to be my friend I knew all this hard work Would pay off I'm so happy!!
"YES OFC!" I say with a huge smile on my face
I run up to them and give them a big hug out of excitement
"I'm so glad we get to finally be friends!" I say pulling back from them
"jade what are you doing with this weirdo" I turn around to see serenity at the door staring at me. as she starts getting closer to me she walks right part me and to Sam. She then starts pushing Sam around yelling at them
"STAY AWAY FOR HER SHE DOESNT NEED YOUR DUMB CURSE JUST GO BACK TO BEING IN THE SHADOWS" serenity says
my body fills with rage as I see Sam start to tear up. what the fuck is she doing who does she think she is I can't believe her.
I swing serenity around and slap her in the face in the stomach. as serenity is grunting in pain trying to keep quiet I grab Sam by the hand and pull her out the bathroom........
