I shakily and carefully made my way over towards my bed. I was exhausted and overwhelmed, everything was just off. Once Loki had helped me over towards my bed he turned on his heel and began to walk towards my two open doors.
"Brother, I do not mean to be nosy but your going to have to tell me what the hell is going on"
Loki continued walking towards the doors, but instead of walking out he closed them, he came back over to my bed and sat next to me. He let out a huge sigh and put his arm around me and pulled me into his side. "Well I suppose you have earned an explanation"
"I suppose I have" He gave me a smirk, I could tell he was trying to hide it but couldn't help it, "Apologies, brother I'll stop"
"No, no, do not apologise sister, before I begin promise me one thing, promise you'll hear me out from beginning to end, no interruptions"
"Brother I cannot.."
"Mirabella, please, for me" Full name, damn, he knows how to hit me in my soft spot. "Yes brother I promise. No interruptions"
"Father still lives, well, sort of" A thousand things flooded through my head, so he wasn't really dead? Overall I was relieved for Thor's sake but there was a twinge of sadness there too. I suppose that was an understatement it was almost a feeling of, well, loss. Loss that I hadn't not lost him.
Of corse I had suspected it but this just confirmed everything I thought. The man who had caused me so much pain throughout my life wasn't really dead. And then there was a huge crashing wave of anger.
I had been angry before that Loki had lied to Thor because now I knew he really had lied, no doubts about it. But like I promised, no interruptions so I didn't say anything. After a long pause, which was clearly Loki giving me time to process everything, he continued.
"The truce with Jotunheim is conditional upon his exile like I said to your brother. But Odin is in his Odinsleep, Mother fears that he has put it off for so long he may never awaken again. Our Mother, she refuses to leave your Fathers side. Truth be told Mira, I would not hold out too much hope for his awakening, this is why I told Thor he was dead." My brother then paused and sighed before continuing.
"If I am never to see Thor again, or atleast, not for a very long time, I do not wish to give him false hope that all is well when it certainly is not. I did that to be kinder to your brother, Sister. And thank you for the no interruptions, I am surprised, you are not normally this quiet Mira."
"I suppose I am not, but being in a place such as, what was it Heimdall said, Midgard? Well, I believe even I may have changed slightly"
"Well let us hope it is not for the worst, I should be devastated to find my mischievous little sister no longer mischievous" He chuckles, he wraps his arm around me tighter as I burrow myself into his side, just the same as when we were small. I was thankful that we stayed like that for a while until I noticed something rather peculiar.
"Why do you do that when you are talking?"
"Do what? Mira, you've started this question in your head"
"When you were talking there, you only referred to Father as 'your Father' or even Odin, you only ever referred to Thor by his name and called him 'your brother', but you call me sister and you called our Mother 'our Mother'" I pause there as my brother stiffens next to me
"Brother?" The concern was evident in my voice, "Did something happen while I was gone brother?"
"I'm not really your brother" He whispered it so that I could hardly hear it, hell I bet he could hardly hear it either. "I'm sorry?" My face contorted into a one of the utmost confusion. Never before had I felt so much like a Midgardian before.
"Odin, he took me, when I was baby from Jotenheim, he took me so that a truce could be made through me. I am a Frost Giant, not your brother"
I paused for a second taking it in before I continued, "Yes and a bilgesnipe is the most delicate creature on all of Asgard"
"Do not jest sist... Mirabella" Ouch. That one hurt but I continued on and pretended as though nothing was amiss.
"I do not jest brother, I do not care if you are the son of a Frost Giant or if it were one of the Dark Elves from mothers storys or a Midgardian, you are my brother, perhaps not my blood, but for everything important, for everything that counts you are my brother."
He held me in tighter to his side, "What did I do to deserve you sister?"
"Well to be quite frank you practically raised me, so, I think the better question here is what didn't you do?"
He pulled away and stood up, and for a moment I could have sworn I saw a tear stain on his face before it vanished. Illusion? Maybe, but I would not ask. "Well I must go, Kingly duties to attend to, and you, sister, should get some rest. And you should probably get out of the Midgardian clothing, nothing against you of corse but their tastes are rather.." He trailed off, I could tell he was fumbling for a word that would not offend me.
I was still in the very comfortable white jumper which I suppose was now more a brown and grey spotted jumper. "Odd? To be delicate about it" I finished off for him.
As he was three steps away from the door I spoke up, "Although I must say, I am disappointed that me healing your arm on Jotunheim wasn't exactly all me, thought I was getting stronger"
"All in good time sister." Loki then walked out closing the doors behind him, "All in good time" He repeated.
