The night air was cold, autumn had set in making me smile. Sounds of traffic and people chattering was in abundance as we walked through Manhattan, we hadn't said a word since we left the tower but it was nice.
Bucky was wearing a long overcoat to keep himself warm along with a navy scarf, he looks almost like a high up businessman in his attire.
"What do you feel like?" He asked breaking the silence.
"Something warm, maybe a hot chocolate?" I asked looking over at him.
"This late? You'll be up all night." He laughed.
"Its already almost midnight Bucky, I'm probably going to be asleep in class tomorrow anyway." I smirked.
He rolled his eyes before nodding, I beamed as we walked knowing I'd one the argument.
There was a coffee shop a few blocks down that was nice, I'd been there a few times with dad. It was a little hole in the wall, the barista was always nice and the muffins they made were light and fluffy.
As we came up to the window Bucky stepped forward to order, I waited and looked around at the nightlife of the city.
I felt a small pat on my shoulder making me look over to Bucky, he held out a brown paper bag to me as he thanked the Barista.
When I opened the bag I saw a blueberry muffin inside, I inhaled the scent that wafted from the bag and smiled.
"Thanks." I said looking up at him.
"Don't thank me, that's what I'm here for." He said looking around the street.
We waited around for our drinks to be ready as I munched on bits of my muffin, every now and then I would hold out a piece for Bucky to eat which he happily accepted.
"So, how was last night?" He asked as the Barista placed our coffees on the edge of the window for us.
"Fun, really fun actually. I even got offered a job, though I have to talk to dad about it." I said as he handed me my hot chocolate.
"Job?" He asked lifting his brow.
"Yeah, just setting up and stuff. Its only once a week since I have school but they said the pay is alright, it would be nice to earn some extra money." I said sipping my drink.
"I didn't think you were looking for work, didn't you want to focus on your studies?" He mocked.
"Ha ha, very funny. I've been considering working since I came back, though I didn't think dad and Tony would be wanting to make me an Avenger so my plans were a little thrown." I said as we started walking.
"Speaking of, how are you feeling about this weekend?" He asked.
Maybe it was better if I didn't go this weekend anyway..
"Actually, I'm not going." I said softly as I sipped my drink.
"Wait, why not?" He asked walking in front of me.
I looked up at him as he furrowed his brow, he looked almost upset at my words.
"Dad said I can't, so I'm not." I said looking down at my cup.
"Hang on, so you're telling me that the most stubborn girl I know isn't going to fight to be on a mission? The same girl who was sent to boarding school and made money playing pool and poker knowing her dad would freak out the moment he knew?" He asked in disbelief.
"I'm not going to fight this one Bucky, he said no." I sighed.
His hand slipped into mine and he gripped it tight, he tugged my arm lightly making me walk along with him.
