It was a long way back to New York from the compound on foot, at least to a part of town where we could call a taxi.
By the time we got our cab it was about eight at night and Betty's party had already been going on for about an hour according to Ned, him and MJ where there waiting for us to arrive though the traffic was pretty heavy.
"Do you think we'll even make it before the party is over?" I asked looking out the window at the stopped traffic.
"I hope so, this will be the first party I've been to where I won't be bullied into leaving.." Peter sighed.
I looked over to him on the other side of the cab, he looked defeated before the night had even started.
"Don't beat yourself up, tonight is going to be fun. You've got me to keep you on your toes too, just because you're all couple-like now with MJ doesn't mean I'm going to let you two think you can leave me unsupervised." I giggled as I pushed his shoulder playfully.
"Wait, can you drink?" He whispered over to me.
"No.. Well, yes and no." I whispered back.
He looked over at the driver up front seeing he was too focused on his radio station to hear us, he moved over in his seat closer to me before whispering again.
"What does that mean?" He asked.
"Well, I can drink but it doesn't really work. I've had a fair bit of alcohol before but I haven't noticed any effects exactly, what about you?" I asked.
"I mean, I've had a drink before but I don't think my metabolism let's me get drunk exactly." He said as he shrugged his shoulders.
"That must be the same deal for me, I guess it would make for a good party trick then." I giggled.
He lifted his brow and tilted his head softly making me giggle.
"We could have shot and shock everyone, we'd just have to deal with the slight burning feeling when drinking them." I smiled.
"Slight? That stuff burns, I don't know what you're talking about." He said in disgust.
"You want to show off though? Might be fun." I smirked.
He looked away for a moment as he thought, I could see he was considering it in all aspects. Might of made him look cool in front of not just our classmates but might of impressed MJ a little, something a little more cooler than his sweet dorky self.
"I'm in, though if we start to feel sick or drunk we need to stop each other, okay?" He asked looking at me sternly.
"Just because you're a few months older than me doesn't mean you can give me that look and expect it to work." I chuckled.
I held my hand out and he quickly shook it making our deal, in the back of my mind I wanted to see how much it took to get each of us drunk though.
The traffic cleared and we pulled up at a large house where music was pumping and drunken teens were everywhere, Peter paid the driver before we got out and made our way up the drive to Betty's house.
"Where do you think Ned and MJ are?" I asked.
"I don't know, probably inside waiting somewhere." He said looking around at the others that were on the lawn.
I grabbed his wrist and pulled him along into the house, the music was loud and there was coloured disco lights flashing around the main lounge.
There was a DJ stand that seemed to be empty at the moment in a corner of the room while people made a makeshift dancefloor in the middle of the room, I'd never been to a house party so everything was new and exciting.
