It was Saturday morning and my week had been a total mess, since I was working Tuesday I had to cancel on Bucky only for him to get a last minute call Wednesday from Fury for a solo mission over in Virginia.
He'd said he hoped to be back in New York by the weekend but I hadn't heard anything from him since Wednesday, Peter had been over though hanging out when he wasn't on patrol or catching up with MJ so that was nice.
My morning went on like any other, wake up and shower before having breakfast with dad while he played his record player so loud it was all you could hear in the apartment.
Peter had messaged me a few times asking what I was doing over the weekend but I didn't really have an answer other than the one I gave him last night, there was a part of me who wasn't even sure if my dinner date with Bucky would even happen anyway after this mission.
"What's on your mind?" Dad asked as I leaned my elbows on the table.
"Nothing, just a little distracted." I sighed.
"Maybe training this afternoon will fix that, sound good?" He asked.
I looked over at him confused as he picked up his coffee, his brow lifted and the edge of a smirk was hiding behind his mug as he sipped from it.
"Training?"
"Yeah, I think it's only fair that you keep up your training even if you wont be on missions with us for a little bit. Unless you want to lay about the compound doing nothing this weekend, that could always be arranged instead." He chuckled.
"No, I want to train. It's just.." I trailed off as I thought about my plans with Bucky.
"Just?"
"Nothing, let's get going then." I said abruptly standing from my chair making it screech.
Dad laughed as I rushed to my room to get ready, my bag still had a few of my school things in it which I tipped out onto my bed.
As I grabbed clean clothes from my dresser I thought about messaging Bucky, part of me wanted to confirm we would still be on for tonight but I wanted to let him contact me so I didn't seem needy. The whole situation was torturous to my heart, without another thought I pulled my phone out and opened a text to Bucky.
'Hi Buck, are we still on for tonight? -Liz'
My chest tightened as I pressed send and slipped my phone back into my pocket, pushing the negative thoughts from my mind I continued to pack my things.
"Ready yet?" Dad called from the hall.
"Yeah, one second." I said pulling my bag over my shoulder.
Dad was waiting in the hall on his phone with his sunglasses and baseball cap on, he looked so obvious to me in the cover but I guess there wasn't much more he would do.
"You know how dumb you look right?" I giggled as I pulled my shoes on.
"You can talk, you're still in your pyjama pants." He said looking up from his phone.
I looked down to see I was in my torn up sweatpants I'd usually sleep in, I rolled my eyes and kicked my shoes off before walking back to my room to change them.
"Why do you even have those still?" He asked as I walked away.
"It's not like we go shopping often, let alone really have the money to." I said as my bag hit the floor.
"We can go shopping this weekend, you need more dresses for work anyway don't you?" He asked as his footsteps neared my room.
I buttoned up the front of my jeans before he knocked on the door, he peaked his head in before walking to the chair in the corner of the room looking over Nat's dress.
