I sat quietly in the car with dad as we drove back to the tower, he hadn't said a word since Jesse walked me out and helped me in the car.

The view out the passenger side window was all I could look at since I was way to scared to look anywhere near dad, though the tension in the car felt almost one sided.

"How was your night?" He asked breaking the silence.

"Good, yours?" I asked.

"A nightmare, but thankfully it didn't take long to blow over." He sighed deeply with a light chuckle.

"Sharon and Nat?" I asked.

"Yeah, they're screaming match continued after you left but eventually they got too tired to keep fighting about petty things."

"How badly beat up is the apartment?" I laughed.

"Not too bad, a few broken plates and a single hole in the kitchen wall." He huffed.

I looked over at him as his eyes stayed trained on the road, I think this was the first time in a few months I'd actually seen him drive a car.

He glanced over to me for a moment and smirked before looking back at the road, I looked back over to my window as the car went quiet again.

"Jesse seems nice."

My heart sank.

"Yeah, he's pretty cool." I said trying to sound casual.

"Didn't know you were seeing him tonight." He said a little more sternly.

My head swung around to look at him, he didn't seem angry which was good but he didn't look happy either.

"He knew I was working so he wanted to surprise me and come by, you know, since yesterday I had to go in a rush." I said lying through my teeth.

He hummed and nodded as he keep his eyes on the road, I looked forward and watched as the underground carpark doors opened up in front of us.

"You planning on seeing him again?"

Was I?

"Maybe, I haven't really had a chance to get to know him." I sighed thinking about our short one on one interactions.

He pulled into the empty space next to Clint's car before undoing his belt, I looked over to see him looking at me with a stoic expression which he did so well.

"How 'bout this then, Friday night you have a proper date. I'll let you stay out late on the condition that Happy picks you up and drives you to the compound after, but then you have training all weekend and the following week after school instead of being grounded."

My jaw almost dropped at his words, that was perfect.

"Really?" I asked almost jumping out of my seat.

"Yes, but that means I tell you when you've done enough training. No complaining and no arguing about it, but if you keep to that and still go to work Tuesday and Thursday I think we can have a deal." He said as a small smirk started breaking through his tough expression.

"Deal." I said holding out my hand.

He took my hand and gripped it tight shaking on it, I felt relieved that he was willing to negotiate and even seemed okay with me dating.

After we let go of each other's hands we started getting out of the car and making our way to the apartment above, I wanted to do nothing more than just go to bed now after tonight.

The lift opened onto our floor as a few people stood in front of it waiting to get in.

"Sorry." We said in unison as we stepped out.
