CHAPTER TEN: the ending

NICKLAUS SWAN NERVOUSLY TUGGED AT HIS HAIR, A HABIT HE HAD BEEN TRYING TO STOP AND FAILED TO DO SO. "What's wrong?" Klaus asked, seeing the look on Edward's face.
"Jacob just got there. He's good." Edward tells the siblings. ▌│█║▌║▌║ 𝓲𝓶𝓶𝓸𝓻𝓽𝓪𝓵 𝓵𝓸𝓿𝓮 ║▌║▌║█│▌
"Simeon's hurt?" Bella questioned upon seeing the look on Edward's face. Unlike before, it showed apparent worry now. Whereas back, he was just focused.
"How are they?" Klaus asked at the same time as Bella.
"She's close. I can hear her thoughts." Edward speaks, then turns to Seth. "Seth, go."
Seth runs off as Bella pulls Klaus towards her and then towards Edward. "She caught my sent," Edward tells the twins. "She knew you'd be with me. She knew that Alice and Jasper would never let you on the field alone." The last part is directed at Klaus.
"She found us," Bella says.
It was quiet for a moment. A split beat that Bella had pulled Klaus closer to her before Edward spoke again. "She's not alone."
That's when a figure appears, walking out from behind the trees. Klaus immediately recognized the newcomer. Riley Biers, the boy, missing for a year, was the case his father was working on. Riley walks closer to them.
"Riley... Listen to me. Victoria's just using you to distract me. But she knows I'll kill you." Edward tells the newborn vampire.
Victoria jumped down, eyes trained on the twins.
"In fact, she'll be glad she doesn't have to deal with you anymore," Edward speaks.
"Don't listen, Riley. I told you about their mind tricks." Victoria lies to Riley.
"I can read her mind, so I know what she thinks of you." Edward tried to reason.
"He's lying."
"She only created you and this army to avenge her true mate, James. It's the only thing she cares about. Not you." Edward explains.
Riley turns to Victoria, face still furrowed in his anger.
"There's only you," Victoria lies. "You know that."
