CHAPTER TWO: temporary truce

NICKLAUS SWAN WALKED WITH ALICE ON HIS RIGHT SIDE, AND JASPER ON HIS LEFT. Both had grabbed a hold of his hands.
The three walked into the school, Klaus didn't realize that Jacob was there. ❝︎𝓲𝓶𝓶𝓸𝓻𝓽𝓪𝓵 𝓵𝓸𝓿𝓮❞︎
Klaus sat in class, drumming his fingers along. He felt that something was wrong. But, he didn't know what it was. He raised his hand, tapping his foot impatiently. "May I be excused?"
The teacher huffed, annoyed as half the class was falling asleep. "Be quick."
"Not like I'm missing much," Klaus muttered, going out into the hallway. He quickly took out his phone. "Come on, come on, pick up." He rushed. "Bella, pick up."
"What?" Bella asked, sighing as though she was both tired and annoyed.
"Are you okay?" He asked his twin sister.
"Yeah. I'm fine. Klaus, there's actually something I need to tell you," Bella pauses, letting out a breathe. "Victoria is here. She's back. For you."
Klaus's eyes flicker across the hallway. "Shit."

The twins arrive late to the house. "Victoria is here? Now?" Klaus asked, whispering.
"Jacob said so, he had meant to tell you, but you were already with Alice and Jasper. Inside the school." Bella replied, taking out her keys as she unlocks the door.
The two try to quietly enter, but failed. "The Cullens could at least respect meal times."
The twins turn startled. Charlie leans in the kitchen doorway, indicating his watch.
" I was just with Jake." Bella replied.
"Oh... Good." Charlie looked to his son.
"I mean, in was with Jasper and Alice, up to, like, four or five hours ago. I went shopping." Klaus lifts up the plastic bag.
There's a knock on the door. Charlie knows who it is, heads back into the kitchen with a small, self-satisfied smile. "I'll just give you two some privacy then."
Bella smiled back, before turning around to open the door. There stood Edward. "Hey."
"Do you understand how worried I've been?" Edward immediately inquiries.
