CHAPTER TEN: breakin' in-and-entering

NIKLAUS SWAN ROLLED HIS EYES, HAVING KNEELD IN THE TRUNK, WITH HIS SKETCHPAD ON THE TOP OF THE CAR. A student dramatically running out of the way when Bella drove up.

"Arizona. Yo, what's happening?" Mike asked, giving a confused glance to Klaus, who jumped out of the back.  "So, you and Cullen, huh? That's...I don't like it. I mean, I don't know, he just looks at you like you're something to eat."

"Of course you don't," Klaus muttered under his breathe, then louder. "Guess it's good that your opinion doesn't matter."

Bella and Klaus walked into the small restaurant, sitting down next to their father. "Hey, sorry I'm late. Biology project." Bella told their father.

"I ordered you a spinach salad. I hope that's okay." Charlie told his daughter.

"You should order one for yourself next time. Cut back on the stake."

"Wow," Klaus stared at his sister. "Stake is awesome. It's amazing. Ask him to stop breathing while your at it."

"Dramatic." Bella muttered.

"Hey, I'm as healthy as a horse." Charlie replied, then pointed to Klaus. "I ordered you a cheeseburger and fries."

"Say, Chief, boys want to know...Did you find anything down by Queets River today?" Cora asked, the Swan family noticed how he two men behind her tilted to listen.

Charlie glanced around the small cafe, sighing. "Yeah, we found a bare human footprint," Charlie spoke. "but it looks like whoever that is is headed east so Kitsap County Sheriff is gonna take over from here."

"I just hope they catch him fast."  Then she walked away.

Niklaus sighed, annoyed when he had caught a glimps of what was happened outside.

"Looks like your friends are flagging you." Charlie said.

Outside, through the window, the twins glanced back to see Mike's backside, dancing terribly.

"It's okay if you wanna go join them." Charlie told his children. "I'm just gonna turn
I'm early anyway."

"Me,too." Bella spoke, shaking her head.

"Bella, it's Friday night." Charlie said. "Go out. Looks like the Newton boy's got a big smile for you."

"Yeah, he's a good buddy."

Niklaus laughed, covering it up as be pretend to cough. "Wrong pipe." He lied, hitting his chest.

"Uh," Bella mocked a hum.

"Okay, come on, the dude is totally and utterly... stupid. I mean, does he really think you'd like him? Sure, he's kinda cute, but, his an idiot." Niklaus spoke, taking another bite of his cheeseburger.

"What about any of these other yahoos in town?" Charlie questioned. "Anybody interest you?"

Again, Niklaus had smiled, hiding it behind the cheeseburger and still smiling.

"Dad, we gonna talk about boys?" Bella asked after a quiet second.

"Yeah, I guess not." Charlie said. "I just feel like I leave you guys alone too much. You should be around people."

"I don't really mind being alone." Bella told her father, a terrible attempt at making her father feel better. "I guess I'm kind of like my dad in that way."

Charlie tilted his head, agreeing.

Niklaus looked up from his drawing, eyes wide when he had seen who was standing there. He quickly closed the door. "You can't just- sneak in here. My dad's the Sheriff." Niklaus told the vampires.

"We just wanted see you." Alice smiled.

"So, you broke into my room?" Klaus asked.

"We figured you wanted more of an explanation."  Jasper replied.

"Yeah, Okay, that makes sense, Yeah," Niklaus glanced at his door.

"So, is there any questions that  you have for us?" Alice asked.
