Chapter 24: Don't you Dare!
Considering now that this will be our net task I proceed with caution as I pull on the door handle the door creaks as it swings open and closes with a thud behind us once we all enter.
walking into the middle of the room I look up looking at the weird golden birds above as the entire ceiling is filled "Curious. I've never seen birds like these before" Hermione states as I also agree since coming into the magical world the animal creature side to it has intrigued me and I will admit I have never seen these types of wing creatures in the books in the library.
"They're not birds, they're keys. And I'll bet one of them fits that door." Harry points out the door as they walk over towards a floating broom. "What's this all about?" I follow Ron as he pulls out his want from his jeans and heads towards the door which I would assume is locked. " I Don't know".
Ron pulls on the door handle and like I had assumed the door is locked raising his wand he waves at it "Alohomora!" he pulls on the door handle and it doesn't budge he shrugs turning back to me "Well it was worth a try".
"Ugh! What're we going to do? There must be 1000 keys up there!" Hermione huffs as she stands her back against the wall next to Ron as I walk over to my brother who hasn't taken his eyes off the broom. "We're looking for a big old fashioned one. Probably rusty like the handle."
Looking up into the heard of flying keys I spot the one that Ron was describing by just looking at the door "There I see it" I point out to the others as they start looking up to see if they could see it also. "The one with the broken wing!".
Harry looks at the broom once again his hand hovering over the wooden floating stick hesitation was clear he's thinking. "What's wrong Harry?" Hermione questions Harry also noticing his hesitation of flying up there to grab the key. "It's too simple".
"Oh, go on, Harry! If Snape can catch it on that old broomstick, you can! You're the youngest seeker in a century!" Ron erges my brother as I just look at the keys above I mean he has got a point no way it could be that simple but then again Snape managed to do it.
why would there be so many other keys if only one was needed I mean the past challenges have been difficult with fluffy and the devils snare so how can this one be so easy unless those other keys are to protect the key we need.
"Wait Harry" I turn to my brother but it was too late as his hand collapses around the old broomstick a violent fluttering sound comes from above as the flying keys cluster all together and then dives in Harry's direction as he climbs onto the broom quickly.
I take a step out the way as Harry tries to swipe at the keys as they proper go for him trying to attack him. I guess this is one way to make this challenge more difficult. "This complicates things a bit!" Ron mutters to Hermione as they stay near the door not sure what to do.
Harry pushes off the ground and soars into the air flying off after the old key with the broken wing the other younger keys on his tail as he flys through the air. He struggles to catch the key as he leans forward it just out of grasp as the key dives in and out of the pillars trying to keep as far away as it can away from my brother.
Thankfully he manages to catch the key as he dives down "Catch the Key!" he shouts over the violent fluttering of the keys as he passes he throws the keys in my direction grabbing the key i watch as he pulls up the keys still following as he flys around the ceiling i shake my head at him as i pass the key over to Hermione who quickly unlocks the door.
Swinging the door wide both me, Ron and Hermione go through to the other side "Come on Harry" I shout up at him as he flys straight at the door those keys still hot on his tail. As he flys through the gap in the door both me and Ron slam the door shut as the keys slam and nail themselves into the door.
