Chapter 8: The Sorting Hat
Darkness, that is all I can see out of the window of the train its whistle blows as the motion of the train starts to slow down stopping at an outdoor station. I notice Hagrid walking along the side aisle, with a lantern in hand to help light up the not so well light area as people begin pouring out of the train.
Taking a step out of the train cart I have Gizmo walking alongside me I Stay close to my brother as I look over at Hagrid the only Adult that has come to meet the new students of Hogwarts "Right, then! First years! This way, please! Come on, now, don't be shy! Come on now, hurry up!".
Walking with Harry and Ron we all walk up to Hagrid I'm guessing our guide to the school building "Hello, Harry, Willow" he smiles down at the pair of us "Hey, Hagrid." we both state together as a crowd of first years start to join behind us. "Whoaa!" Ron exclaims as he looks up at our tall friend seeming as it would be his first time meeting Hagrid I would say it was a reasonable reaction at the gentle giant.
"Right then. This way to the boats! Come on, now, follow me." Hagrid states as he turns around walking down the platform and I'm guessing taking all of us to the docks to board boats.
A number of boats are plugging across a vast lake, where up ahead a huge castle can be seen. I look up at the castle in amazement as I hear Ron behind me uttering a quiet Wicked under his breath as he also stares at the castle. The boat journey was quick and luckily being the cluts i thankfully stayed dry inside the boat Ron, however, looked over the edge to much at least his face is cleaned now.
Entering the castle a release a breath I didn't know I was holding as I look up at the many stairs we have to climb on a higher level, a lady stands on the side railing looking down at us all entering a Professor I am guessing who is waiting for us all. She wraps her fingers on a stone railing and then goes to the top of the stairs to greet us newcomers.
"Welcome to Hogwarts," she states as I look to my brother excitement coursing through me as he also looks at me with the same look in his eyes before we both look back at to which im guessing would be a Professor."Now, in a few moments, you will pass through these doors and join your classmates. But before you can take your seats you must be sorted into your houses. They are Gryffindor, Ravenclaw, Hufflepuff, and Slytherin. Now, while you are here, your house will be like your family. Your triumphs will earn your house points. Any rule-breaking, and you will lose points. At the end of the year, the house with the most points is awarded the house cup".
A scared-looking boy, standing next to me spots his toad sitting near the Professor to which he jumps forward "Trevor!" slips his lips as he grabs his toad. I'm guessing this is Neville the one that Hermione was helping earlier. The professor stares down at him as the young boy utters a small apologetic Sorry as he backs away.
"The sorting ceremony will begin momentarily" she states as she turns around and leaves us all standing on the stairs
"It's true then" I turn with the rest of the group to face a young boy with slicked-back bright blonde hair an evil look among him states.
"what they're saying on the train. Harry and Willow Potter has come to Hogwarts" he says as he so casually leans against the stone rail of the staircase. Students start to whisper, Harry and Willow Potter? as the boy catches my eye he freezes slightly before gaining his composure.
"This is Crabbe and Goyle" he states as he points out the two guys that are standing next to him before moving to stand in front of me and my twin brother "and I'm Malfoy... Draco Malfoy," he states like he is trying to impress. Ron beside harry snickers at his name as Draco's head quickly turns to look at Ron for laughing at him "Think my name's funny, do you?" he questions looking down at Ron like he is gum on the end of his well-polished shoes.
