After Sumire left, Morning...
Second Person's POV
You were washing dishes after you and Manjiro finished eating the breakfast. Sumire had left for work. Your boyfriend, in the other hand, was rubbing Crookshank's plump belly. The fluffy male cat felt pleased by the gentle treatment. He couldn't stop purring affectionately at the white-haired man.
"What's his name again?"
"Crookshank! You can just call him Shanky if his name is too long for you to remember."
"I'm sure I have heard of that name somewhere.."
"It is from Harry Potter. You know that character named Hermione? She owned a cat with that name as well. My sister named her cat after Hermione's cat. She is a big fan of Hermione, too."
You explained the origin behind Crookshank's name. Manjiro hummed and continued to pet the orange cat. He was staring at him with his round eyes, gazing fondly. Looked like the cat had grown attached to him.
"Man, you are so lucky.. It took me a week to get along with him. And you only took a few seconds to let him pet you!" You exclaimed, dissatisfied with the unfairness.
"I don't know. Cats always allow me to pet them whenever I approach them.. It is as easy as that."
"You are loved by the felines, I guess."
You chuckled heartily at the discovery. Now, this was pretty much a new fact. Manjiro rarely played with animal let alone a cat. And now he had become a cat magnet.
Manjiro suddenly hugged you from behind, arms wrapped around your waist. You breathed heavily and side-eyed him. "Do you really need to go to work?" Manjiro asked. His heart felt heavy to let you go.
"Of course I need to. You as well, Manjiro. Are you gonna abandon your restaurant?" You questioned him back. He fell into silence, processing your words. It never ceased to make him feel awkward whenever you mentioned "his restaurant".
"Remember Sanzu? He is the one in charge right now while I'm on a short break..." Manjiro clarified his situation. He wasn't deceiving you. He indeed commanded Haruchiyo to look after the restaurant or more precise, the organization.
"You are on break? Was the work burdening you?" You were concerned. Manjiro didn't nod or shake his head. He only replied with a believable statement, "I simply desire to spend more time with you...to make up for all the time we lost in the past, sweetheart."
"But if you insist on going to work then I don't have the rights to stop you. Just be careful , okay? Contact me if you need help with anything." Manjiro worriedly reminded you. He was hesitant to let you leave but he had his own ways to deal with that.
You smiled reassuringly and patted his head. "I will, Manjiro. I will. You , too, be careful on your way home later. Take a looong, enough rest!"
Manjiro nodded, pressing a soft kiss on your forehead. He continued to snuggle you, his dark eyes narrowed with menace.
