Mystic Falls high school was a buzz with students catching up after summer break. Everyone was sharing stories of all the fun things they did whilst heading to their lockers or classrooms to start the day.  Y/N trudged through the packed corridors on her own with books clutched to her chest and her heavy backpack hanging on her shoulders. She had her headphones in and music blasting to drown out the people around her.

At school Y/N was quiet. She didn't raise her hand in class, she  wasn't involved in any extra curricular activities or clubs and she kept to herself, never being seen with other people around.

It's not that she enjoyed being alone but she just wanted to avoid as much teen drama as possible and these halls were full of it.  Y/N arrived at her locker and carefully began trying to put her many books inside. It was almost time for the first lesson and the pressure of her trying to be quick caused her to drop the things she held.

A guy, who happened to be heading her way, saw the incident and made his way towards her. He kneeled on the floor in front of her and began helping her gather her things.  Y/N stopped for a moment and looked up, a red tinge highlighting her face as she stared at the stranger. His own head soon lifted to face hers.  "I-I saw you'd dropped your stuff and I just wanted to help." The unfamiliar guy spoke as they both stood up again.

Y/N opened her mouth and closed it again, unsure of what to say and too awkward to say anything either.

She turned to her locker and began to put things back in it again as her mind raced trying to think of what to say.  The green eyed boy began to feel somewhat awkward too but decided to try again. "I-I'm Stefan by the way.

I'm sorry if I've done something I shouldn't have. I just saw that you were struggling and noone was helping and I didn't want-" Stefan began to ramble.  She giggled as she realised how awkward he was and how awkward she had made the situation by not replying. She cut him off mid way through his ramblings. "T-Thank you." she gave him a small smile.  He carefully handed her the rest of her things and watched as she placed them away before shutting the locker.

She gave him an awkward nod before stepping to the side, ready to head to her first lesson.  "Uh.. Wait." Stefan spoke up as he turned around to face her.  She slowly spun on her heel as she reached for the strap of her bag, clutching it tightly.  "Sorry to be a bother again but, uh, this is kind of my first day and I don't know where anything is.. Would you mind helping me find my first class?"  She took in a breath and nodded. "S-Sure. What do you have first?" she questioned as she watched him pull out a timetable.  "Uh... Math."  "Ok. It's not too far from where I need to be so I'll take you there now. Follow me."

She began walking as he placed the piece of paper back in his pocket before jogging slightly to catch up with her.  They walked in silence. Neither of them knowing what to say or if to even speak at all.  When they arrived at his class they both hovered outside the door for a moment.  "Thanks."

Stefan gave a slight smile.  "No problem."she nodded in return, trying to muster up the courage to say more."Um.. I-If you need anymore help t-today then come find me and thanks again for earlier." she smiled, her face heating up once more.  Stefan grinned.

"Do I get a name before you go? Just so I know who I'm looking for and if I need to ask around?"  "Y/N and just look in an empty classroom or under a tree outside. My usual hang out spots." she giggled, somewhat embarrassed by how lame she sounded.  Thankfully the bell rang aloud meaning she could hurry away before she became any more awkward or embarrassing.

"I'll see you around then, Y/N" Stefan spoke up as she turned around and began quickly walking away to her class.  "Bye, Stefan!" she somewhat shouted and she picked up the pace, not wanting to be late especially on the first day back.

The end.....
