You and Stefan had been dating for almost two years now.

You loved him.

He loved you.

Everything was going smooth and steady.

Until it wasn't.

Stefan had always been a little mysterious.

Of course that's the first thing that made him attractive to you, but we all know that with mysteries, come secrets.

And secrets are never good.

You were working on a night shift in the grill.

"The same?" you asked Jerry, an old man, who had recently been widowed.

His wife died due to an animal attack three weeks ago.

Since then, every night, he came to the bar, downing drinks after drinks, in hopes to forget his beloved wife.

"Yeah doll, the same," he answered and looked sadly at the floor.

You gave him a sympathetic smile and filled his glass with the whiskey.

A few minutes later, after Jerry left, the bell rung, and Elena walked into the grill.

She flashed a fake smile at you, but you didn't notice it was fake.

What you did notice, is that her usually straight were now curled and she was wearing a leather jacket and boots that were way too expensive for daily use.

But you pushed the thoughts at the back of your head, as you flashed her a grin.

She walked towards the counter, where you were working, and greeted you with a smile.

"Damon trouble," she sighed as you poured her a drink. Elena Gilbert was currently dating Stefan's older brother, Damon Salvatore, who happened to be one of your best friends.

They started dating a few months after you and Stefan did.

"Tell me about it," you suggested and she took a deep breath.

"You know, him being reckless, me being careful, it's a mess." She told you.

"Oh," you breathed.
"It's complicated," she sighed heavily.

You nodded sympathetically, as she finished her drink. You poured her another one.

"How are you and Stefan doing?" she asked curiously. "Oh, we are great! He's coming to pick me up after my shift," You smiled and told her.

Katherine felt jealous but yet she still smiled at your words.

"Wow, I'm sure he's such a good boyfriend right?" she teased and you blushed. Before you could answer her, Stefan walked into the grill, looking for you, worry evident on his face.

Seeing Katherine there, smiling and laughing with a human, fragile, you, who had no idea about the supernatural drama around yourself, only made his worries worse.

"Hey Stefan, are you okay?" you asked him as he walked towards you, Katherine eyeing him with a smirk. "Y-yeah, I am," He answered you. "Ready to go?" He asked you.

"Yeah! Just let me change and come," you replied and walked inside, going in the locker room to change. He nodded and after making sure you left, he turned to Katherine.
