Ashley couldn't help but skip past the puddles as she walked down the street, her oversized hoodie pulled up over her head as her brown hair spilled out past her shoulders, moving her head to the beat of the music that was flowing through her ears, her imagination running wild as she thought of the fact she would be married by the end of the year.
"Finally, she arrives" Leah chuckled, as she tapped her watch in a jokingly manner. "Don't" Ashley mumbled, as her, Leah and Skye who abnormally quiet walked into the venue, slightly bigger than what they were used to, but I guess working hard ensured you got what you deserved.
"Is he still being a bitch then?" Leah mumbled, as she fiddled with the microphone stand as Ashley nodded her head.Her relationship was literally riding on a very thin thread, and for the first time in forever she was able to see what everyone else hated about him, she had been blinded by his good charm, and his funny whit, but she was starting to see the person beneath the gleaming light that surrounded him.
"I told you that you should of got out of it before it got serious" Skye mumbled, as she shook her head. "You sound just like Mia" Ashley muttered, as she combed a hand through her hair. "Yeah, we'll she's right" Skye muttered as she began to tune her guitar. "But I love him" Ashley mumbled, but the two glances between her band mates, before they looked back at her, she knew she wasn't being honest with herself anymore.
"You love the thought of him, you don't love him" Skye muttered. "You love that you have someone to go home to at night, you love that there's someone who you can eat dinner with, and I'll tell you now babe" Skye paused for a moment, the harsh words coming out like venom to Ashley, but she took every hit. "You'd be better off alone, without him anyway" Skye muttered, as Ashley nodded her head, not having the heart to reply to her comments, knowing that deep down, there was more truth in her words than she would ever know.
"This is silly, Ash, you love him and we shouldn't decide whether his right for you or not, only you really know him" Leah whispered, as she wrapped an arm around her friend, giving her a comforting hug. "I know, but you're not the first people to say it, and I highly doubt you'll be the last" Ashley mumbled. "Now let's get this thing started, I have some wedding cake to eat later" Ashley whispered.
~~~
So won't you take it, I feel like for the first time I am not faking, fingers on my buttons and now you're playing, master of anticipation, don't you keep it all to yourself
Ashley sang with so much emotion, not missing a beat of the music that flowed around her, until she saw Jordan stood at the door.
"You was a little flat babe, but we can work on it later" Jordan smiled. "We need to get going" Jordan continued, as Ashley looked to her band members with an apologetic glance, as Skye rolled her eyes. "I'll catch you later then" Ashley whispered, as she grabbed her bag from the bottom of the stage and walked over to her fiancée.
"You look beautiful today, I love when your hair is straight" Jordan mumbled, as he kissed the top of her head, before linking their hands together, walking into the busy streets of London.
"Are you sure you can't find the time off work to go to Amber and Jacks engagement party?" Ashley mumbled, as Jordan rolled his eyes at the younger girl. "If I could I would, but I really don't see why you associate yourself with those footballers, all they ever bring is trouble" Jordan mumbled, as he pulled Ashley into the wedding cake shop that they had an appointment for. "Next you'll tell me you don't want them at our wedding" Ashley mumbled, as she sat down at the table that was laid out for them. "It's crossed my mind once or twice, but they are your friends, I can't ignore that" Jordan mumbled back, as Ashley looked at him dumbfounded.She knew that Jordan was quite opinionated, and had grown up in a family where everything was always about success, and how if you played your cards right you would end up at the top of the tower, he didn't understand how hard Ashley or her friends had worked to get where they were, to get their names on the map, but she always just shrugged it off as a difference in their childhood.
But as Ashley sat there, watching her fiancée eat cakes, with different frosting, watching as her phone silently buzzed next to her, her friends who wanted nothing but the best for her sending messages of positivity and wisdom, she couldn't help but wonder if she was making the biggest mistake of her life.
But then she thought back to the times where she really loved him, the times where he really loved her.
But would it be enough.
