SHE WAS HIS EVERYTHING, even if it came down to it, he would've picked her over his career repeatedly. but history always repeats itself, only this time, it no longer was daniel who weaselled his way into her heart, it was his best friend.
kailee didn't like corbyn that way, but they began to bond more than they ever have in the past, getting to know each other as their arms were wrapped around each other, walking to her car in the pouring rain.
"i'm sorry our hangout got rained out." kailee apologized for something that wasn't her fault, which seemingly was a regular habit for her. "it was still nice to talk with you."
"he's still your everything, isn't he?" corbyn asked finally, their bodies brushing against each other's as he reached for her car door, opening it so they could continue this conversation without being soaked.
"he was my everything. i don't think i can live like that anymore."
corbyn nodded, understanding from his last major relationship with christina. love had its limits, and they were both just trying to fulfill it.
"you don't think or you aren't going to live like that?"
"i don't want to live through that experience, so i don't think i could. now get in the car before you catch a cold, besson."
shutting her door, she let out a small sigh, hearing the heavy raindrops dance against the roof of the car, so when corbyn came back, she had her answer.
"i'm not going to live like that anymore." she fully admitted, corbyn's small smile warming her heart.
"kailee, he did love you, but you should find someone that would do better than him, and who knew when to stop and not hurt your feelings."
"there's not a whole lot of guys like that out there that are our ages."
"i can think of one." she knew it, he thought this was a date but maybe it was? maybe it was finally her time to get away from the world of daniel seavey- or at least be get enough away to not be attached anymore.
"corbyn," she said above a whisper, their eyes locking. "i don't know if i can do this."
"kailee, i want you, but if you want me to not kiss you say that. i will stop because i care about your well-being and happiness. i care about you as a whole, not just parts of you. i want you to be with a guy who understands you more than anyone else."
without another word, she kissed him, feeling as if the urge was too strong to avoid. it was kailee, she was one of the girls who got roped into the best friend, but where did that leave her and daniel? heartbroken and lost without each other? there was so much damage that she couldn't handle alone, but if she had corbyn- it felt possible.
"thank you, for being one of the sweetest boys i have ever met."
"i'm a man, thank you very much."

USERNAME, honestly the fact she got back together with daniel and now they're broken up and she's with someone new is proof that she wasn't in a healthy relationship - KAILEEHAZEL, i'm going to say this once, because apparently this needs to be addressed. daniel and i were happy, we had so much amazing times in our healthy relationship. but we were growing apart and we thought that the first time we broke up was going to be the worst of it, but it's not. we spent a year apart and rekindled when i came to la for a bit. now i live in la and there's no issue. we used to be happy and that's okay. we grew too much apart. we were happy together and i think a part of me will always love daniel but i need to move on. i need someone that will care for me and love me for who i want to become, not the old me. thank you.
