"I told you that I need more time. I got caught up with something, it's not important but I just need time."

"Well, you better come up with some good excuse as to why you're still on this case. Chief is not happy, he thinks you went MIA. You're not picking up his calls."

Levi bit his tongue as he stared at the photos of him and Alona before stuffing them back inside his desk drawer.

"Just tell him I'm deep undercover and I can't speak to anyone or this whole case will blow over." He heard a long sigh come from the other end of the line.

"You better hope he doesn't track you down and bust your ass. You know, If you were anyone else, he'd fire them in a heartbeat. Why are you so different?"

"Look daddy cop jr. I don't have time. I gotta go." Levi rolled his eyes and hung up the phone. Sitting it on top of the desk, he rubbed his temples but froze when he heard footsteps heading his way from down the hall.

Slowly, he took his gun that was tucked away in his pants. He listened closely, the footsteps slow strides.

Levi gripped the trigger and spun around, aiming it just as the person stepped foot into his bedroom. He clenched his jaw and lowered the gun, glaring daggers.

"Fucking dumbass, I could've blown your head off."

"Dad would not like that considering I'm his favorite and all," The man almost the same height as Levi gloated and smirked while entering the bedroom further.

Levi rolled his eyes and tucked his gun away.

"What are you doing here? Shouldn't you be slaving away by dad's side playing daddy's little boy?"

"Funny, brother. Truly. When will you just admit that you can't stand that I'm dad's favorite son?" He continued to gloat, tilting his head tauntingly at Levi.

"When he wins father of the year award, now what do you want? Came to laugh at my falling apart life?"

"Relax, I'm not that heartless. I just came to drop this off," He flopped a file stuffed with papers on the bed. Levi picked it up, opening the file to examine it.

The first thing he saw was a mug shot of a man.

"What is this?"

"Dad wants you to find him, kill him. The usual."

"Yeah well tell daddy I'm not doing his job. Hunting and killing is not what I'm meant to do. Move things, sell things, make deals, and torture information out of people is all I'm good for. I'm not you, I'm not dad. I don't kill." Levi tossed the file back onto the bed making his brother sigh dramatically and roll his eyes and neck around.
