falling
for alona
34third pov
"Tell me what you're thinking right now my love," Levi whispered vulnerably, almost reaching to grab Alona's hand. He hated being this close and being able to hold her like he'd been yearning for months. His bloodshot eyes looked up at her as she stared straight ahead.
Not moving.
"Please?" He begged, reaching for her hand anyway.
"Trust me..." she whispered in a raspy tone. "You don't wanna know what I'm thinking," snatching her hand away from his grip. Levi gulped and clenched his fist.
"Is there anything other than wanting to get away from me on your mind?" She thought about it for a moment.
"Did you really mean what you said earlier? About being in love with me?" She asked Levi in a whisper who had been sitting in a couch chair beside the bed for a long time. He'd just been staring at her for hours, not being able to look away. Alona didn't mind. She usually loved that he loved admiring her.
But it was different this time. She didn't want it to feel different but it did. Who was the real Levi? Was he real when he went by Walker to her? Or was it all a front? She was too afraid of the truth.
But their time together sure did feel real.
Well, looking aside the age difference.
"Every last word," He replied the second the question left her dry lips. She licked them and Levi noticed, quickly but carefully handing her the tall glass of water from the nightstand. Her eyes wandered to him as she took sips. His body language screamed nervousness.
He shouldn't be the one to feel anything. He was a liar, she thought. She should be the one feeling all of the emotions. But she had no more tears left to cry.
All she felt was pain. Physically and mentally.
"How long?" She cleared her throat.
"It would be cliché of me to say since the moment I met you but it takes time to fall in love. But with you?" He chuckled, looking at her with love. "It happened so fast, it caught me so off guard. I know that sounds stupid but it's true my love. Many moments made me fall for you, I just couldn't choose which moment."
"...but I was for sure certain that night."
Her heartfelt as if Mjolnir were hitting it.
"What night?" She stared at him, wanting to hear him say it. Levi looked down at his folded shaky hands.
"That night..." a single tear slipped her eye.
Maybe she had it all wrong.
Maybe she did have more tears left to cry.
"That night I told you I didn't love you." He gulped.
"God I hate you!" She sniffled and gripped her hair.
Levi looked down, ashamed.
"You made me feel like such a fool! You hurt me, watched me fight for you just for you to push me away! You made me go through the pain of letting you go..."
