Niccolo's POV
We watched her fall from the roof after the gunshot. That fall could have killed her instantly if that bullet didn't already do the job. Ariano stared up at the roof but didn't say anything, there were so many emotions flickering in his eyes until I could no longer read him.
"Fuck" I whispered handing Marcus the keys to the vehicle.
"I left her. I'll be the one to go. You two go to the car." I instructed checking on how many more bullets I had left.
"No" Ariano took a step toward the building before I pulled him back harshly.
"Only one of us dies, remember? Now get in the fucking car." I gave them both a look until they started to run back to where we parked.
A small sigh left my lips, I really hope I don't have to carry another dead body home, especially if it's hers. Her family would be devastated and I don't feel like losing a friend. Although most would say it's an honor to die on a mission with me, I don't agree. I have never liked it when one of my own dies.
I ran through the security door skipping up the stairs two at a time until I reached the fifth floor with the deck. I ran down the hall until a door suddenly opened, the person and I crashing into each other. I had no time to react before her hand wrapped around my throat and her gun pressed to my head.
"Amaya, it's me. It's okay" She looked up at me and I saw her lip quiver, probably from the pain.
"He did this to me.... He.. Nico" She looked around still being alert as she slid from straddling my waist.
"Who? Just give me a name." She simply shook her head as she seemed even more confused.
"I don't remember.... I just know that he did this to me" My hand reached into her wet hair and pulled back to find that it was actually soaked with blood, maybe her own.
"Can you run?" She shook her head no motioning to her bleeding thigh. I'm guessing she broke a bone there. Damn that has to be painful but she seems too in shock to notice right now.
"Come here" I stood up bringing her up with me. I then lifted her, being careful of her thigh as I put her on my back.
"You came back.... Why?" She whispered as I took the backpack from her.
"You are family, I would never leave you behind..." I admitted as I carried her back through the hall. She did in fact blow the place up so I couldn't go anywhere past the second floor unless I'm going through the security door.
I carried her down and out of the building avoiding the men and running into the surrounding woods as she held on tightly.
After we got far enough away I lowered her allowing her to sit on the dead leaves on the ground. I kneeled next to her, taking my belt off and tightening it around her thigh.
